VZW service problems

As of last night (Friday 2/20) I've not been able to receive or make any calls or texts while at home, however, when I left my home, my phone began to work again once I was about a block away. I've never had this problem before and I've lived in this same place for over a year and a half with the same vzw phone and service. The phone shows that I have full signal/service yet acts as if it doesn't. The update commands do not work either, displaying a "programming unsuccessful" message. Any ideas? Suggestions? Thanks!
 
Last night a friend's verizon phone worked while at the location though I have not been able to test a different phone at the location today. A test call does not work.
 
Did the update, both options, and still having the same results. If I am on a call when I enter into the affected area, the call does not drop. But if I hang up and try to call back out, it does not work.

The problem with going to a verizon store for tech support is the problem likely won't be replicated since the problem occurs in the immediate area surrounding my complex.
 
Take the back off the phone and take the battery out of the device for 30 seconds (or more).

Then put the battery back in and try *228 option 1 again. If that doesn't work try *22899 (you won't need to select an option using this number). If that works, try and do the #TEC again. If this works, problem solved!!

If this doesn't work, from your home (using a landline phone) call Verizon Wireless technical support directly at 1-800-493-1625. Then explain the problem to them. They will redo all of the above troubleshooting we covered here but will entail some additional things. If all else fails, they'll get back to you by issuing a trouble ticket which would send a technician out to the area to investigate it. They then would contact you with a resolution. If they cannot find an issue, your device will be replaced with the same device at no cost (if you have a manufacturer warranty or an extended warranty). It takes 48-72 hours for them to respond.
