vzw new every 2 the 16th

OK. 2 years ago I got a kyo slider, the design of which I loved, but after 5 self-destructed, vzw would only give me a Samsung sch-n330, which I HATE!

What's important to me in my next phone?

A phone vzw offers that is going to stand up to moderate daily use with some occasional heavy use days -- the ones I was considering are: Moto e815, LG 8100, Moto Razr (but I really don't want to spend that much) Samsung sch-a950 and vzw CDM 8945 -- but I am very open to wise counsel. I DON'T WANT TO HAVE TO BE BACK AT VZW returning or exchanging the next phone & I don't want to be disappointed with it either. I will most likely not use it for streaming media : video or music. I realize most of the newer phones offer such an option but if there's a phone that vzw offers that slightly lower tech but has the following capabilities, please let me know. I don't want to spend too much. After $100 and whatever rebate the phone has, I don't want to kick in much more than $50 or $70 net. If there is a super-wonderfurl phone that takes just a few dollars more, sure, I'll go for it.

I use my phone for: calls, sms, internet, alarm clock, count-down (but it's not absolutely necessary), timer, voice memos, and want to use it for my calendar which has a lot of repeating appointments and reminders for my music students' lesson times & events like birthdays etc,

I really want/need/use:

speaker phone that can be activated on the keypad or that can be programmed to a shortcut key & if there's a side key -- preferably, no side key for speaker -- but if there is one, that it can be disabled or locked

recurring calendar capability & not having to keep entering repeating events

voice dial

get it now capable

good battery life

good sized keyboard -- this sch-n330 is way too small for quick dialing when I'm doing more than 1 thing at a time

good sized color screen

if by a miracle (or a very simple hack that a total neophyte can do) it was on Apple's list of isync-able devices and I could sync it to my Mac (OS X) by usb cable I would be a very happy person [I read somewhere that verizon disables the syncing cabability on the Moto e815 -- which is the only one on the list above that's on Apple's list]

to do list or note pad for "notes" not just for previously dialed phone #s

address field in contact info

not as important

note or memo field in contacts

not too large or heavy

I have about 2 weeks to pick this phone so any sage advice would be so greatly appreciated.

My husband is a heavy user of his LG 6100 and says it's a good phone. His is the 1st LG we've had.

Thanks thanks thanks

I just bought and returned an 8100 and can speak to a lot of your requirements. Speakerphone is loud (not that clear on the other end though) and isn't activated via a side key, although I couldn't get the thing to use the speakerphone with the flip closed.

There were three major reasons why I returned the 8100: size / bulk, voice quality / "volume fluctuation" (which allegedly is fixed with v07; I was on v06), and the keypad. The keypad in particular was annoying as hell to me-- too far down on the phone's long frame and too hard to press for quick dialing or texting with one hand. All of VZW's LG phones have the same sorta keypad, though-- if you are OK with the 6100 (on which I think the keypad is even worse), then the 8100 may be a better fit for you.

All of the high-end VZW flips at this time-- the e815, 8100, and a950-- are just too big for my taste. (I'm excluding the Razr, which I'd never buy since all of my college-age students have it.) Especially with their rounded surfaces and non-clean lines, I think these things are pretty profane as flip phones and I might be better off with a small candybar. You'd be amazed at how much bigger and heavier the 8100 felt in my pocket and hand than my old Samsung a310, which is really only about .1" thinner but also has a very "straight and clean" profile. I didn't think it would be a big deal at all, but in the end I just couldn't get used to it. It felt sturdy but really clunky. Then again, I also think the 6100 and 5200 have similar issues of excessive bulk... mostly in terms of being too long for me.

Reception on the 8100 is very good, although voice quality on my end is-- as I said-- lacking, but again I have yet to try a v07 phone. Most folks say it's a lot better than the 6100 on both receiving-end quality and reception. Battery life was also absolutely excellent by my standards; I use about 30 minutes of airtime a day, and was getting 3-5 days on a charge.

I can't speak to your PIM function requirements as I use a separate PDA. The flexibility of the alarm clock on the 8100 indicates that it can least do recurring events with some degree of sensibility. My guess is that if any phone can meet all your PIM requirements, it's the 8100-- just keep in mind that the Verizon UI means that most of their present high-end phones will likely be identical in this regard. If one doesn't have it, none of them will... save maybe the e815, which is the last VZW phone left without the Verizon UI.

e815 is a good phone so is the razr if you want a feature rich phone then the e815 is a good choice i hear the samsung a950 has been dropping calls and such you can read it under verizon forum . ps e815 is the best phone to hack you can find all the hacking info under motorola under verizon forum.
