vx8500 vx8550 no OTA

New member
neither of these two phones will OTA. i've done everything. I used the vx8550 for 3 months and *228 never works. Any idea on what causes this?

SPC is 000000, sid/nid/min/mdn are all set.

I have a Samsung that won't OTA, and older one. All my other ones besides the A900 OTA just fine. None of my customer's want a phone that they need to manually program.

Update....

My vx9900 would OTA yesterday fine and also today. I have the 55 dollar plan.

I called today to add WAP, and the women added it after several dealers told me that the option wasn't allowed in CD or CINDI or whatever they use. I was told she added it with H O.

I can't OTA now on my vx9900. It fails. I reset sid/min/mdn and nothing will work. I called cricket tech support, the guy removed WAP and added it back, but it didn't change anything.

Any ideas?

we can add in CID/CINDI if you tell it is a model that supports WAP! also dealers have a direct support line if CID won't let them. The main billing system doesn't care what the phones support.

Problem is, CID wouldn't let them add WAP. She used something called HO. After WAP was added, the phone wouldn't OTA. I went back to the 50 dollar plan + 5 dollar flex bucket today, switched phones twice, checked every setting on my enV and it will not OTA now.

this is about the enV, i sold the chocolates haha.

yeah they must have had your phone listed as a model that did not support WAP (if you put CPE which is for customer provided equipment/flashed phones it will not give the option to support WAP) HO is the billing system. It has no respect for the capabilities of phones.

p.s. are you trying to help me hit 1000th post? post back and let me know... :buddies: cheers

edit: see i'm not cheating to get it either. i'm driving home soon, but anyone that wants to celebrate with me after that post here and enjoy a frosty beverage with me.

thats odd. have you tried *22804? i have vx8500 and vx8550 flashed for my girlfriend. just change the nam and try it. without prl load nor cable, OTA worked perfectly.

i bought 2 brand new 8500 and 8550s and neither would *228 straight out of the box with only a cricket PRL.

*22804 and *2 do not work in san diego market.

i bought 2 brand new vx9900 env's and they OTA just fine.

*2 is only for sprint phones. it is something that is loaded on the sprint firmware.
*228XX will only work in some places. it depenRAB on which part of the channels cricket is operating in.

i have the same problem with a vx 8600, tried to OTA it but it didn't work. checked all the settings and they all seem correct, i even reset it back to default settings and it still does not work.

I just bought a vx8500, and Took it to get flashed at three diff. stores all which were durab founded at how this phone was not flashing over. Has anyone figured out why thi is still happing only to chocolates? I am no expert but this seems to happen to phones that were once on the verizon network all new phones seem to be the only phones that are able to be activated on the Cricket network. I was running vo6, but changed it back to vo4 hopping that this will change anything.....its a stab in the dark but we will see if it works.

Please advise us all if you have come up with a solution to this issue. If not at least a valid answer onto why this is happening.

Isriam,
cou;d you post a link to the directions on how this can be done? Or if one does not exist could you create a how to...I really would like to get this vx8500 up on cricket since it wont program over OTA what is the other method?
