VW to buy Ducati?

Yes, only since Porsche tired to overtake WV... instead, they spend a few billion dollars, almost went bankrupt and some Saudi company wanted to buy larger share of Porsche... as a result of this attempted (i.e., hostile) takeover, VW bought 49.9% share of Porsche AG and "later acquire the rest."

That's what happens when you try to do dumb shit.

Here a quick overview of "who owns who"

IMO, VW owning Ducati... I'm a bit split, but having additional funding (if that's VW intention) would be great for Ducati not to mention additional marketing as well...

VW owns Audi.

Passat was (may still be) a re-skinned A4 for years.

Wonder if VW will shelve plans to buy Ducati now that MV is back on the market. Well, maybe they will get both.

VW and Audi are in the same HQ building in Reston VA. I stop by every once in a while. They have had some great cars on display. Audi R10 (the diesel race car) Audi R8 v10, Lambo Murcielago LP640 roadster, Bugatti Veyron, and the VW Golf W16 (yep, the white one from top gear. There was only 1 in existence). Its a cool building.

Maybe it will help with a pesky problem that Ducati has had for a while. Reliability. Hey, don't get pissed at me. I just note it from reading all of your posts...and from owning a 996.

I for one, have no clue what he means. I would buy a VW owned Ducati before I'd buy a Fiat owned Chrysler. The words "Made in Italy" and reliability don't exactly go hand in hand.

Beauty, yes. Reliability? Not so much.
