...better).? Hello,
I have looked a little at a few cars with decent Mpg's such as the VW Jetta and the Honda Civic. I am kind of struck by both of them, being acceptable cars that pack a decent amount of speed.
I am driving a car now that is ment to get 18ish mpg city, 20 street (Hyunda Tiburon), and its becoming tiresome using a quarter tank a day going to and from college. Now, I am 20, so I'm not looking for an "oldster's" sedan, I like to go fast, but I hate spending massive amounts of money for gas, high price cars, or anything else in any sence of the word "expensive."
Now, I am somewhat looking for a replacement car that can keep pace with my Tiburon which isn't really much of a challenge (172hp, 135torque I think). Its an auto so it goes 0-60 in 7.5 seconds maybe a little more. I have heard good words, along with watched some videos with the Civic and Jetta, I am fairly impressed with there performance and still getting two or three times more out of the gasoline put into it. I am also looking for it to be in the late 90s to early 2000's so it won't cost an arm and a leg.
One thing I am not sure about with the models, the Jetta comes in TDi (Turbo Diesel), GLi, the Civic Si (rare), and Ex. Which would be the best in these, I know a Civic Si would be be better than an Ex, but I expect there rarity would affect there prices. I will probably add a few after markets to whatever it is, Cold air intake, Header, Exhaust, performance chip, and maybe "maybe" a supercharger. Everything other than the supercharger add to the Mpg, so I don't think the supercharger would hurt it much, maybe stable it back to the starting point. I know the Jetta revolves around torque, and the Civic revolves around Horsepower, well, an extremly high RPM....I don't know which would be better, if either.
Main Wants:
Reliable
Good Mpg
Fast, to an extent (Better than 0-60 in 7 seconds)
Good control (good on corners)
Acceptable in weather conditions (Rain, Snow, Hail, etc).
Some things that don't matter:
I have seen a Jetta TDi (modified) beat a stock Mazda Rx-8 which is pretty food for a 47mpg sedan. The Jetta has a higher torque than the Civic, almost 100 more, but the years desired the Civic has 35 more hp.
If I think of anything else, or someone posts something I would like to reply to I shall put something in the "additional info" section. Forgive any spelling or grammer errors, I hate Answer's Spell check.
Thanks to all people,
Mortaltirant
P.S. If you suggest something else, ABSOLUTLY NO Prius, Smart, or Focus!
