VU Magazine Gone After March 2007

I just received my March 2007 issue of Vu Magazine with a notice that this is the last issue.

Although I rarely use Vu magazine for accurate program listings because it is published too far in advance, I often have used it to see what other channels across Canada carry a particular program I want to watch so I can time shift.

I have also used it to search for older programs on channels such as Mystery or Bravo that I might be interested in. By checking a month at a time I can tell whether they are doing a whole season of a particular show.

It is too cumbersome to go through all the channels on the Guide to get this information.

I have used Zap2It but it is difficult to use because it shows very few channels per screen view. As well, it gives only two weeks at a time.

Does anyone know of any other resources which would show BEV channels on a full page format similar to Vu Magazine's format. I'd be satisfied with print or computer resources.

Are you refering to Belltv Magazine? I got mine today... but there was no note attached. Where did you see this or how was the note attached?

It is unfortunate that Bell would pull this magazine after having just discontinued Movie Entertainment Magazine for some users last fall. Since I get mine included with my programming I hope this is not the case. And if so I wonder if BEV will reduce their programming price commesurately by $2 for this reduction in service.
 
Where is the confusion satuser ?

There is the Vu! magazine and there is the Bell TV magazine.

It is the Vu! magazine that is discontinued.

Also, Expressvu GIVES you the Bell TV magazine for free (if you have more than 5 theme packs, that is). It is a gift. If you don't explicitly ask for the magazine, you most probably will not even get it. If it were to dissapear, which I doubt, how can you expect Bell to refund you $2 each month since we've been giving you the magazine free or charge all along ?

The Captive media group inc have decided to stop publishing the Vu magazine.
Last edition will be the one of March 2007
Monthly suscriber won't be billed for the Vu mag as of their next bill after March 1st
If clients are mistakenly billed for the Vu mag after March 1st have them contact 1-888-759-3474 for a refund
For yearly suscriber they will receive a check from Captive media in 6 to 8 weeks after the last edition. If client didn't receive it please have them call Captive media at 1-800-311-9700
We are aware that clients would like to be informed about their programming, invite them to go on the bell.ca/magazineTV or to suscribe to bell TV magazine
Bell Express Vu programming schedule could be obtain throught the elctronic programming guide or throught bell.ca
 
I don't recall the Belltv Magazine being free. I get charged $2 every month for it and then recredited $2. Back in August, I heard about a $2 price increase due to the all in one packaging, but people still on the old packages and on contracts would see the increase in price but would be credited the $2 every month. If that was true, then I'm being charged for the magazine, which I never received until August.
 
The magazine is free if you have more than or 5 theme packs but, by definition, the code that we add in your account for you to get it puts a $2 charge on your bill, hence the charge.
 
There is no relationship that I can see between the Vu Magazine program listings and Bell TV Magazine.

I was one of the people sent the Bell TV Magazine free. I found it useless for the purposes I outlined in my first post.

Bell TV Magazine does not give program listings and cannot be used to determine which channels are showing the same program(s) so that we can use the information for time shifting.

I further find it odd that we have to ask Vu Magazine for a refund if we are charged beyond March 2007 when, as in my case, the subscription is charged to my BEV account directly by BEV.

BEV's suggestion that we can just look up program information on the Guide is not useful since it is, as well all regretfully know, still a mere two day Guide and, furthermore, has too many channels to have to page through every time we want information about what is on BEV and when and on which channel(s).

The search function, unfortunately, at least on my 5900 PVR, always, and I mean always, messes up my PVR if I use it. The dreaded black screen appears within hours of my having done a search.

Anyway, same question as I asked earlier: does anyone know of any other resource for program and channel listings which is relatively easy to use as Vu Magazine was?

Maybe now BEV will FINALLY :rolleyes: gives their customers a 14 day guide (or at the very least a 9 day guide) instead of this 44 hours crap :o :mad:
 
I use the search function on my 5900 at least 3 times a week, and it has never messed up my PVR. You must have a faulty 5900
 
Thank you very much for the information about BEV's online searchable Guide.

This is perfect for my purposes because I generally search for a particular program name and want all the information about times and channels.

In addition, the online Guide gives program information where it is available (e.g. description of what is on the program shown that day).

here's hoping to a longer than 44 hours electronic programming guide. now there are no excuses with the Vu! magazine gone !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
 
Pardon my ignorance but how is the death of a magazine related to the electronic guide?

Not that I wouldn't want to see much more than 44 hours (or whatever it is) available from the electronic guide.
 
Some have speculated that BEV keeps a short guide to encourage people to buy their paper guide (crazy, but then Bell logic is sometimes crazy). Perhaps a longer guide is in the works!
