Vomitting a taboo in cartoons or not?

guys let's not turn this into a "making fun of someone's fetish" thread.

yeah rugrats has at least two throwing up scenes that i can remember: the episode where tommy's sick and he pukes on angelica, and the episode where angelica steals chuckie's glasses and throws up on drew at the end.

I personally prefer vomit to be off-screen; its presence doesn't really add anything. For instance, most of the vomiting in Family Guy is gross, with the exception of the Peter/Brian/Chris/Stewie competition gone horribly wrong. "I don't wanna, I don't wanna, I don't... BLAAAAAHHHH!!!!"
Heffer also vomited in "Hut Sut Raw" when trying out some food. Though some could interpret that as him simply spitting out the bad food.

I think the most graphic vomiting scene I've seen is that one in "Futurama" where Bender turns human, and when trying everthing a human body can do, goes into this quite gross vomiting scene. (For the record, I haven't seen that FG scene)

Not vomiting, but similar kind of humor: In the Freakazoid episode "And Fanboy was his name", Freakazoid is seen drinking several glasses of Papaya Juice, and all of a sudden he's greeted by Fanboy and goes into a ridiculously long spit take. ("Oh, yummy")

Another Futurama vomit scene, from "Three Hundred Big Boys," where Mushu the whale vomits for a long time.
URL: It just keeps comin' and comin'...

I guess the Canadian networks are a bit looser in what they can show in their cartoons. I'm just a bit surprised it was shown like that on a US channel like Cartoon Network in primetime.

When it comes to Japanese animation, vomiting is usually shown in a completely comedic and unrealistic way where the character's face turns into something like an emoticon.
