Volver

Yes, an Almodovar's movie. Penelope is quite good in it. Very believable.
Be aware that it is in Spanish with subtitles in English but don't let that put you off... I recommend it.

I quite liked Volver. It's not as good as Almodovar's previous films in particular All About My Mother, Talk To Her and Bad Education but Volver's still a good film. Cruz is marvellous in it and it was good to see Almodovar working again with the great Carmen Maura.

I think its a terrific film, but am well aware it won't be to everyone's tastes. If you like and appreciate the Spanish mentality, then you'll enjoy it.

Not that I'm presuming the OP is stupid or anything like that, but I'll just warm out it's subtitled. Seems to turn people off for some reason.

I love "Volver", but then I love most of the films Almodovar has made. Anyone who does not rate Penelope Cruz based on her earlier appearances in American movies should check her out in this - she's wonderful. And anyone who has found Almodovar's movies not to their taste before shouldn't necessarily miss out on "Volver", since it's somewhat gentler in tone and less off-the-wall than usual. :)

Very true - Cruz is an exceptional actor, yet typically Hollywood ignore this and base her American film roles around her looks more than anything else. Her Spanish films show what a great talent she really is.
