Uhm I gotta question

I have an iPod Touch (3rd Gen) and a Nano (3rd Gen) and docking stations for each of them. The docks used to work fine, but then one day i noticed that i couldn't control the volume on the dock i have for my touch (a satechi icraft). Actually, i could control it, but it went up in weird intervals, like too quiet to hear and with one click it was way too loud. So i put it in my other dock, which i have never had any trouble with, and i couldnt control the volume at all. Neither of them work for my nano either. I think it probably has something to do with my ipods because i know i didnt do anything to the docks. Is there any setting that can do that? Help!
