Voices you imagine when reading comics/graphic novels/books

Have u ever read a book and imagined your favorite actors filling in their roles? They could either be alive or dead.

Example: Bone by Jeff Smith

Bone: Billy West (his fry voice from Futurama)
Phoney Bone: Tony Sampson (his Eddy voice from Ed, Edd n eddy)

What else do you got?

Ive always pictured the bone cousins being voiced by the guys who voiced Ed edd n eddy, although I did think of either Rob Paulsen for Bone and a voice similar to daffy duck for Phoney.

I know this is not likely gonna happen anytime soon but if they ever did an animated film of Howard the duck Ive always pictured Charles Adler voicing him for some strange reason.

Heres mre Bone characters;

Dragon: Jeff Bridges (he has that laid-back attitude that fits the character)
Grandma: Shes a hard one. Its either June Foray or some generic old lady voice.
Thorn: Grey Delisle (sam from danny phantom)
Rat monsters: Frank Welker
Smiley Bone: Jimmy Durante

I'm assuming just about everyone imagines Alan Young as Scrooge in the Barks comics right? And probably Russi Taylor as the nephews? My question is what sort of voice do people picture Donald having?

I've always imagined the Bone cousins having these voices:

Fone Bone - Jim Henshaw (the voice of Wickett W. Warrick in the 1st season of Ewoks and the voice of Tenderheart Bear on The Care Bars Family)

Phoney Bone - Gilbert Gottfried

Smiley Bone - Bill Farmer

But that's me.

I picture Clarence "Ducky" Nash or Tony Anslemo as Don, albeit a slightly more audible version, since the Duck in the comics is more dialogue prone.

Whenever I read a Sam & Max graphic novel now, I can't help but hear the voices of Harvey Atkin (Sam) and Robert Tinkler (Max) in my head after the Fox series.

Here's another one: Calvin & Hobbes.

For Calvin, I picture him with a Bart Simpson-styled voice, while Hobbes I imagine with a sophisticated, British accent.

Garfield: I hear the voices from "Garfield and Friends".

Peanuts: I hear voices from "A Charlie Brown Christmas", "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown", and "The Charlie Brown and Snoopy Show".

Beetle Bailey: When I read the title character's dialog, I hear Frank Welker's voice for the frog in commercial advertisements for Smacks cereal.

The Born Loser: When I read Brutus Thornapple's dialog, I hear Bill Thompson's voice for Droopy Dog in the theatrical animated cartoons.

Get Fuzzy: When I read Bucky Katt's dialog, I hear Tom Kenny's rough voice for a feline driving school teacher in an episode of "Rocko's Modern Life".

The Wizard of Id: When I read the dialog for the wizard and king, I hear low and high variations of Daws Butler's voice for various characters in the "Fractured Fair Tales" segments of the Rocky and Bullwinkle cartoon series. The wizard has the lower voice and the king has the higher voice. When I read Rodney's dialog, I hear the voice John Stocker used for most of the Koopa Troopas in "The Super Mario Bros. Super Show" and Prince Hugo the Huge in "The Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3". When I read dialog for the news announcer at the castle tower, I hear Jim Mallon's voice for Gypsy in "Mystery Science Theater 3000". When I read Turnkey's (the character who guards Spook in the king's dungeon) dialog, I hear Bill Faggerbakke's earlier voice for Patrick Starr in "SpongeBob Squarepants". When I read Spook's dialog, I hear Tom Kenny's voice for an older SpongeBob.

Whenever i read comics that involve Guy Gardner i picture him having Stephen Blum's voice (yes, even after seeing Brave and the Bold), specifically his Jamie voice from Megas XLR. Also, J Jonah Jameson, up until the definitive performance by JK Simmons, always "sounded" more like Mel Blanc doing a meaner Mr. Spacely to me. Finally, Rosebud from Bloom County always seemed to me to have a voice similar to Big Dog (very deadpan) from 2 stupid dogs (and this was before 2SD even was made, strangely enough, and yes i know rosebud was revealed to be a female, which makes it more amusing).

My personal voices for the Bone cousins...

Fone: Dan Green (with his "litte Yugi" voice)
Phoney: Mr. Lawrence (sounding like Edward from Camp Lazlo)
Smiley: Corey Burton (his Disney's Mad Hatter voice without the lisp)

Not sure the specific voice you cited would suit Thorn very well. I picture Nicolle Tom (Supergirl) doing her.

Jeff Bridges, however, is a very interesting and fitting choice for the Red Dragon. I never considered it before.

Back when I read Ninja High School in the 90's, I imagined the following voice artists voicing these characters.

George Newbern as Jeremy, Julia Kato as Itchy Koo, Jodi Benson as Asrial, Rob Paulsen as Lendo, Peter Cullen as Kenterminator, and Jim Cummings as Prof. Steamhead.

For Fables, I keep getting Ron Perlman as Bigby Wolf, Mary Elizabeth McGlynn for Snow White, a mix of Kenneth the Page and Todd Haberkorn for Boy Blue, and Brittany Murphy for Rose Red.

Also, I hear a young Michael Caine for Spider Jerusalem.

For Sam & Max comics, I kind of hear the cartoon cast.

My personal choices for the Bone cousins...

Fone - Mike Sinterniklaas/Billy West
Phoney - Mark Hamill [think his Scarface voice in Arkham Asylum]
Smiley - Bill Farmer

Yeah, if you've seen animated versions first and the voices just really click with you, you just can't picture the comic characters sounding any other way.

Though if manga graphic novels count, I've been reading Dragonball Z manga and picturing Freeza with Robert Englund's voice (sounding like the Riddler from "The Batman" or the Vulture from "The Spectacular Spiderman", not Freddy Kreuger.) It just fits his character so perfectly and would be a cooler sounding voice for him than the one we're stuck with.

That's the thing. I've always pictured them sounding like that even before I watched it. I like the game voices (which I were exposed to first), but the ones in the cartoon were probably the closest thing I hear when I read the comic.

Also, I kind of hear James Arnold Taylor on Luffy sometimes when I'm reading any One Piece manga chapters in English (and other times it'll just be Colleen Clinkenbeard). Kind of weird, but I really like the idea of him being Luffy.

I got one. I never could picture Jughead sounding the way he does on 'Weird Mysteries' when I read his lines in the comics. I sort of pictured him as having more of a dopey voice, probably by Frank Welker or something. Though Howard Morris's original Jughead voice was pretty good.
