Voice mail icon won't go away on Samsung cellphone!?

I have a Samsung T459. The new voice mail icon is visible at the top of my screen. I have checked numerous times - no voice mails! I have taken out the battery to reset the phone - no change. I also called my number from another phone, left a message, and went on to delete it once it appeared - the icon is still there. There are no saved messages or no new messages on the phone. Any ideas? Thank you!
 
You can call your service provider and have them manually turn that icon off for you. It's not permanent. Sometimes their voicemail platform gets stuck and thinks you have a message when you don't.
