Voice differentiation of voice actors and voice actresses.

I was watching a re-run of a Bakugan episode, and in that episode, it guest-started Meagan Fahlenbock (who's known for Gwen on TDI, Jen on 6TEEN and Melodia in Yin Yang Yo), and it was really easy because she's used her most known voice.

Now, I've wondered that a majority of voice actors can make differentiation on voices, which is notable on known voice actors such as Jeff Bennett and Tress MacNeille.

So, is it okay to have the same voice for a while, or is it necessary to at least change your voice a little bit, because some fans will think it'll get redundant?

It depends... Steve Blum seems to be adored for his 'Spike' voice, yet people also complain that his voice sounds the same in those roles. The two roles he did on WITCH, sounded completely different from one another, and neither of those were his 'Spike' voice. Some love them for a signature voice, while others hate it.

For me, range is good, and prefer either new talent or old actors using new voices... For example, Johnny Young Bosch seems to get a few leading/main roles lately, so hearing the same voice on all those shows sort of blends them all together and prevents the characters from really standing out. A unique voice helps the characters stand out.

The range is good for more varied options for roles, so you basically wouldn't be playing the same roles over and over again. Tara Strong is a good example of some wide-range voice acting, with such contrasting characters like Raven from Teen Titans and Bubbles from Powerpuff Girls.

I think though if your voice isn't quite that wide-ranged, you should at least know how to distinguish it from your former roles, like Richard Horvitz's voice work with Zim from Invader ZIM and Billy from Billy and Mandy, which are indeed similar, but do have their notable differences. While both characters are idiots, one is more of a crude, obscene, boyish type of idiot, while the other is an egotistical idiot who is under the belief he is a mastermind.

I thought his Renton (Eureka 7) sounds different from any of his other characters, but other than that, they all sound the same.

Anyway I thought Tara Strong has a wide range of voices for both male and female characters. Timmy Turner sounds nothing like Ben Tennison for example.

I think that its good to have a wide range. It makes the characters seem more real, because in real-life we all don't have the same voices.

Frank Welker actually used the same voice for Dr. Claw AND Darkseid (also, his Kalibak sounded like a teen Megatron) but it fit the characters so it wasnt that bad in retrospect.

I wouldn't honestly know how these voice actors go about "switching" up their performances, but I love, even when they do or don't, trying to connect their dots from series to series. Tom Kenny, E.G. Daly, etc. for example. So much fun.

That is by-far my favorite part of cartoons. Just throwing that out there.

Personally, it doesn't matter if they sound the same as long as the voice fits for that show. Not everyone watches every cartoon to get tired of it.

Sure Bosch's Ichigo, Lelouch, and Vash all sound the same, but they fit the show.

On another note, Gay-Blum yes?
