Vodafone Samsung Galaxy Mini...?

Okay, well i want to buy a Vodafone Samsung galaxy mini and it's pay as you go...but to be honest i SUCK at technology and this maybe a really stupid question :L but how do you like buy stuff at the market...? i mean do you have to put your bank details into it? if you didnt have a bank account, would there be any point in buying it? or does it just take the money from the money you top up with...? thanksssssss
