Viz Media shows to air on Funimation Channel; includes "Nana" and "Honey and Clover"

Shame that B-more doesn't allow us to view Anime Selects since everytime I click on a show episode, I'm told that it's an error and I have to call Comcast to get said show.

If I'm the programmers of Funimation Channel, then I'm already putting Hunter x Hunter in an hour block with Yu Yu Hakusho, since they are created by the same guy.

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now that's what I'm talking about!

Hunter x Hunter, Buso Renkin, Honey and Clover, NANA and mother frack'n MONSTER!!!

Wish they were on a more available channel but my parents have Fios so I can watch at their place from time to time.

Incidently I must shed a tear for MONSTER loosing out on being a part of Adult Swim but I have my doubts it would have done well there anyway.

Supposedly they still can't play YYH supposedly due to rights issues that prevent them from airing it on their own channel as opposed to some one elses (Colors, CN, etc). Maybe they can make that happen some day though.

At this rate... Bleach and Naruto might move to FUNi channel as well... wont that be an "oh snap" moment?

Nice to see Viz and FUNi finally figure it out. Working together will help them succeed where ADV failed.

Still hurt'n for some One Piece but that's entirely up to Toei.

Yu Yu Hakusho does air on Funimation Channel. It has aired on Funimation Channel since the rights CN had expired along with Case Closed, unless it was removed in the last three months. Furthermore, the Colours Block was merely programmed by Funimation. They never sold the broadcasting rights to Colours. It was an arrangement similar to what Manga has with Sci Fi and what 4KiRAB has with CW. They bought the block time and then programmed it. They never sold the broadcast rights to any of their shows to Colours.

If Funimation could get carriage on Dish and Directv, it would instantly become mainstream, and the cable companies would probably want it as well.

All things considered, Sony really missed their chance with this.

.... Doesn't Viz have enough shows and Japenese companies suport for there own channel and an accponying magazine if they want? But that‘s still awesome for those who have the channel.

You're quite misinformed YYH played on the ColoursTV block but it never aired on the FUNimation channel. I didn't have that channel but I did keep tabs on the programing airing on it through their schedules and other sources. Case Closed and Dragonball both aired on FUNimation's ColoursTV block and on the FUNimation Channel but Yu Yu Hakusho did not.

Yes I'm aware that FUNimation's block was basically a syndication of FUNi's channel but there are still different rules that apply to both.

I don't know if it's entirely true but I've heard that FUNimation reps have said they couldn't play YYH on FUNimation Channel because of rights issues with the Japanese holders that prevented them from airing it on a channel they own and I presume they don't have the streaming rights to the show either.

But even if that wasn't the case it's a FACT that Yu Yu Hakusho has only aired on the syndicated block and not on the actual FUNimation Channel nor the VOD to my knowledged. If you have proof otherwise, show it.

Also, it was listed a show that would air on their website but it didn't despite that. And I'm guessing that's where your argument comes from rather than actual schedules and other evidence.

All right, this is a shocker. But all we need now is Bandai throwing their hat in and we'll have an anime channel of EPICNESS.

. . .

You know, I kinda half-expected Naruto Shippudden to be in the announcement too. Guess Viz is still trying to shop it around.

I really want to be happy about this, since I get the Funimation Channel.

However, unless they team up with a major conglomerate like CBS Corporation or NBC Universal, I don't see the channel getting the kind of penetration of something like Nick or CN. Independent channels always seem to struggle in that respect.

I wish Colors did not drop their Funimation channel block last year. Damn how i wish Dish Network had the FUNimation channel. Monster, MONSTER. I love Monster, I would give anything except my soul to have the Monster dub in my hanRAB.

Still this is great news for those that have the FUnimation channel, and who knows maybe Viz will put those shows online soon. Bleach Naruto and Death note are Fine Viz but stream some other shows too please.

Hmm. It's sadly not available in Arlington. Blast. Well, I signed up to be notified when it is. Anyone else in this situation should too, Verzion probably keeps track of who's asking for it.

*walks off grurabling*

Well I would get FIOS if I had the chance, but I think my family is happy with IO. I just hate the fact that most of the channels that air anime, I need the box to see them, like SyFy and IFC.
