Viz Media New Title Solicitations (Sep 09) Naruto Shippuden

Singles? Really. Singles are so dead than even edited boxsets turn up at discount stores (I snagged a Inu-Yasha TV edit boxset for 5 bucks as proof of this.) Funimation, the biggest player in the US anime industry has essentially stated they'll never release another series in singles ever again. ADV/Sentai Filmworks and Bandai are following suit with an nuraber of their releases as well. Singles are a relic, a waste of space and energy inefficient.

If they thick this money grab will work, they better be ready to send a bunch of leftovers to Big Lots and Dollar General.

Meanwhile, I'll snag the Nana box when it hits.

I think that boxart is the same as the first Japanese DVD so they're following their Bleach DVD release formula to a "t" if that's the case.

BAAAAAAAAD choice.

There's absolutely no point to releasing uncut singles of this series. Maybe VIZ is trying to do what they did with "Full Moon", where they released singles very slowly because they were trying to get it on T.V. and didn't want the series to get too far ahead. WHAT WERE THEY THINKING?!

I want Naruto Shippuden, but not in singles(boxsets FTW). Now that you mention it, Funi hasn't announced any singles for a long time. But no prob, i love the idea of 13 episode sets better. Series end much faster this way which is great, and short 13 ep series get released in one set. But the only thing about Bandai, Media Blasters, ADV etc... is that alot of stuff they're taking out now is sub only (Lucky star ova). Is Funi the only company left DUBBING ALL they're shows?

Anyway, Bleach: Diamond Dust Rebellion is what i'm getting. So hopefully by this time next year Fade to Black will be out

It's extremely unlikely that it's a set, considering that it's $25 MSRP. Most of the uncut sets so far are set at $50 MSRP, whereas the early ones are currently $35. It also says "volume 1" whereas the the worRAB "set" or "part" do not appear.

The only way it could be a set is if there is no dub, which would be a letdown of a different sort.

Don't be a fool man wait for the boxsets! It's not like you can't watch every episode of Naruto Shippudden legaly already (I think so anyway, maybe there's some stuff in the middle yet to be released on CR and such).

Meh, I've been meaning to get new shelves as it is, and God willing these singles will come with Death Note level specials (audio commentaries and behind the scenes documentaries) so it'll be well worth the price.

Pokemon's a bit on the cheap side but that's not what we're here for. As for the Bleach movie, clearly it will be cheaper once it comes out at Best Buy and Wal-Mart....hopefully.

Wow, single releases. I feel like I've gone back in time.

Unless they're striking some TV deal that they're really hush hush about, I see no point in this. NOTHING HAPPENS in these first 5 or so episodes of Shippuden, there are long stretches where absolutely nothing of importance happens (that can be blamed on Kishi though), and when something does happen it has horrible animation with a terrible score to go along with it.

If this was a boxset, the first 14 or so episodes, then I might be inclined to buy it. But I won't be buying this, maybe for the Hidan and Kakuzu arc, and maybe the Sasuke stuff, but not this first terribly paced arc.
