So we finally get Naruto: Shippuden on DVD. It took them long enough. I wonder if DVD sales will sink since most of the hardcore Naruto fans have been getting the show's fill online and don't even care that much about having the series on their selves anymore?

Plus Bleach Movie 2 for me. I still have to get the first one.

Naruto Shippuden, huh? I wouldn't mind hearing the dub voices of some of the new characters, but I'm not going to spend my money on something I've seen in Japanese online and, more importantly, sucks.

...they're starting off with a single volume release for Shippuden?

No way. It's way too long for that. They should've gone with a set release from the start.

They're doing this now?! And in single sets no less? Why? It's not like they've got an edited version just for the DVD's and nobody does that anymore anyway

Plus don't you know single sets are like, almost dead?

Preach it!

And also I mean, come on, it's on CR and Hulu...and the official web page...

Really, this only annoys dub watchers since they have to wait even longer for their single 4-5 episodes every three months volumes.

I agree. Viz if you want the people money, put it in a boxset, I mean that's why I buy One Piece dubs and everything else FUNi puts out. Single sets are so late 90's-Early 00.

Basically the series drags its feet in a way that's even slower than Dragonball Z, the fear of going into filler is so high that episodes may only adapt about half a chapter of manga material. But the series is still crammed with filler anyway. Granted, the filler here actually means something (it aims to flesh out the canonical story). But that is the principal complaint about the series: poor, lethargic pacing.

You know the first three chapters of the manga Naruto Pt. 2? These four episodes don't even finish the first two manga chapters if memory serves.

The parts that aren't crappy filler are drawn out like Dragon Ball Z and full of stock footage and pointless flasrabroadacks. Plus, all the episodes so far are available subbed online instead of spending $25 on a single, which may be edited.
