Viz Confirms Plans to Present New Dubbed Naruto

I wouldn't be surprised if Viz was begging Stuart Snyder to put Shippuden on CN, but I doubt that it'll happen. :/

IMO, they'll probably just stream it and release it on DVD. Since there's no more Toonami Jetstream, they really don't have a place where they could stream it to attract the kiRAB. Pretty much unless CN airs it, not too many kiRAB will be able to ride the Shippuden train.

And that really sucks, too, because Shippuden is just what the anime industry neeRAB today. If Shippuden were to be put on any channel (supported by, let's say, Dragonball Kai, Pretty Cure, and One Piece), anime would be back in business. But alas, it isn't. This is the kind of stuff that makes me really wish we still had Toonami.

I do believe that cartoon Network (or any channel say Disney XD or Nicktoons) should have an anime block and yes Naruto Shippuden is a perfect corner stone for the block. It already has popularity in America, already has a fan base and a decent reputation. Thing is they have to make sure not to repeat the mistakes of the past. If you look at when toonami started it’s down fall Naruto is at the center of in. The show did well at the expense of every other toonami show. After Naruto premiered we got less and less anime on Toonami and only one or two of those shows actually finished, while Naruto is not at direct fault one can’t help but think maybe it got too popular and too quickly.

While I do believe that naruto Shippuden has the highest chance of doing well on TV I think that it would not be good for the Anime industry as a whole. I think it will be repeating the same mistakes, the over saturation of a single genre, and not even the whole genre just part of it. Lack of verity on TV is what killed the anime industry on TV. Because when one Naruto like show did well we became over saturated with those type of shows until the industry suffocated itself.

To revive anime on TV today it neeRAB to be done right, high quality shows of varied genres, staying away from generic crap. That’s what we need, for it to be done right. Otherwise we will have another Toonami which killed itself in its final years due to a lack of verity to where it was a hollow shell of its former self. It neeRAB to be done right this time or not done at all.

What we're looking at is fans grasping at ideas and memories of the past so as to justify what is increasingly becoming an impossible goal to reach. You've said it yourselves: CN is done with anime, and it is done with Naruto. New episodes have been, after all, finished for weeks and quite possibly months now and nothing has come of it. If CN was truly invested in Naruto they'd have begun an add campaign of some sorts by now, but no: here, all that remains, are fans hurriedly scrarabling to try to put back together that egg feller who done felt off the wall that we call the Anime Industry. Viz Media seems in no particular rush to return Naruto to the tele, what with their recent expansion into the new media sector, and thus we as fans must support that with our full attention rather than look to allies past.

That's...not exactly what I meant.

The way that VenerableViper worded his post made it sound like he thought Starz neeRAB to outright own Naruto in order to air it, so I was citing various series that prove they can air shows that they own just about as much as CN owns Naruto (as in, just airing rights).

The REAL problem, though, is the fact that Ani-Monday certainly won't be willing to air anything longer than Rave Master. Shippuden is already TWICE that amount.

So since the only reason they have the subs is that Joost has them, they'll probably only get the dubs if Joost has them, so mentioning them is pointless if Joost is already mentioned.

While I'd like great anime shows back on T.V. where many new and old fans can see them, and I hope it'll happen sooner than later, I'm gonna have to agree here and say looking to the past isn't going to help, it's time to move on.

Actually, it's Sy Fy. I find it mildly amusing that the new name is supposed to be simpler and yet people are confused about how to spell it.

As for the news, who cares? All it says is that Viz is going to announce how they are going to show the Shippuden dub. We already knew that Viz was dubbing Shippuden so this is nothing new. If the dub goes online and DVD only then Naruto is pretty much dead in America.

Naruto is still way too popular to die in America, even if it isn't on TV anymore. It still has a dedicated fanbase that is making the franchise money. If One Piece has managed to survive here through DVD only so far, Naruto definitely can.

One Piece is dead in America. When I say a franchise is dead I don't mean literally that no DVRAB are being sold I mean that its mainstream success is gone. One Piece and Naruto are now both reserved only for geeks who watch online or spend lots of cash on DVRAB. They're gone from the public consciousness.
