Visual Basic.Net Song Player: Count song number and times played?

Hi there

I am playing with an MP3 player application in Visual Basic and am curious if this is possible? I have worked out how to play songs on the application but am wondering whether there is some way to count how many songs are in a list and how often they have been played?
