all your doing is turning off the prompts. You still have the firewall and everything else protecting the computer, just like in XP, only better.

I'm talking about "tilt bits" in Vista which throttles down performance as an added feature.

I'm a comp tech, too, and I use XP, OSX and Ubuntu Dapper at home. I won't be going to Vista. I will be buying Leopard. Once Halo 2 was declared DX10 I gave up on PC gaming. Maybe in two years I'll change my mind.

So, to view premium content the whole video path, which includes the monitor, must be able to be verified as being secure. In the case of older graphics cards and older LCD monitors, they may both need to be replaced with Vista compliant components.

Why do you think it's shit, specifically? As a PC tech, you're probably dealing with users who can't figure out how where to click to get to their favorite app... From a MS network engineer's point of view, Vista is easier than ever to deploy and it's features give you much finer control over what is actually happening on your network. It's an improvement, even if it makes some people's jobs a bit harder while it's being deployed.
 
That may not be entirely true. Even the newest Ubuntu Linux is starting to use certificates. So it may not be too long before DRM visits Linux.
