Vista for my sister?

hey im reading a bunch of these threads in here and yall really talkin bad about it, well my sister is about to get a new laptop and i look at dell and most of them have a free upgrade to vista. so my question is should i try and stay away from vista or get it for her. i kno memory is important with vista so im plannin 2 gigs, but on the processor is there any pro or cons for using an AMD 64 instead of like a pentium dual core? any help is appreciated
 
Go for a Core 2 Duo machine, you won't be sorry. 2GB is a sort of sweet spot for Vista too, but don't be surprised when it says it's still using 40%, that's how Vista handles memory.

I say why not since it's a new computer.
