I had the same problem. I discovered it was eye strain. I had spent too much time on the computer. Anyhow I took a cold wash rag and laid it on my eyes for about 15 minutes. Then I did simple eye exercises. I would look to the left, right and up and down without moving my head for about five seconds in each direction. Rowing my eyes helped too. That same day I also took a capsule containing vitamin b. The next day the flashes and specks were gone.

its a migraine their are many different types of these and you can have a disturbance with vision as well. I would go see your doc who may refer you to go get your eyes tested if you don't wear glasses already, as i knew i had a lot of these types of migraines from pc screens that weren't guarded or from straining my eyes too much got glasses and a lot better especially if you on then a lot. Don't worry though just lie down in a darkened room with a cold flannel on your head and take some strong painkillers and it will eventually go as migraine can in fact last a couple of days. A great tablet is migraleave they can be bought at any chemist they can help you. Also if you panic you can make symptoms 10x worse so just try to relax and stay off the computer till it passes as you don't want it to get worse.
