VIRGINMOBILE x-tc media player HELP!!!!?

i have a virginmobile x-tc and i just bought a new sd card with an adapter and when i put the sd card inti the xitc it says reading card then card ready to use but when i go to the media player it says there's no songs and i am putting the sd card in right and i downloaded songs on to the sd can someone please help thanxs
