SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) — One of Apple Inc.’s first computers was auctioned off for more than $650,000, according to media reports Sunday.

One of only six remaining Apple /quotes/zigman/68270/quotes/nls/aapl AAPL +0.68% 1 personal computers, which were released in 1976, was bought Saturday by unidentified buyer at the Breker auction house in Germany, the Associated Press reported.
There were different accounts of the bid. The Associated Press said the winning bid was $668,000. The New York Times reported that the computer was sold for $671,400.
The sale topped a record set in November when an Apple 1 was auctioned off for $640,000, according to the Times.
Apple co-founders Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak built the Apple 1 in a garage. The first Apple 1 sold for $666 in 1976, according to the AP.
