"Villainous" characters who shouldn't have been

This is kind of hard to explain. It's similar to a thread that Zoombie started not long ago. Which characters we're perpetually placed in the "bad guy" role, but didn't deserve to be? Some examples:

Mr. Beastly (Care Bears)- This guy was almost always placed in the role of the villain, yet he often seemed merely misguided, and was able to earn some audience sympathy through his conflicted ordeal.

Wile E. Coyote (Looney Tunes)- Again, he was a sympathetic character who was perpetually placed in the role of antagonist. At least his future descendant Tech E. Coyote from Loonatics Unleashed got the chance to be on the side of good with the heroes.

Kirstee & Kaycee (Bratz)- Call me crazy, but despite the fact that these twin sisters were constantly described as being "pure evil", I never viewed them as being such. Spoiled, stupid (it's not that they truly lacked brain, between them they probably had one) maybe, but not really bad. They're no more evil than say, Bulk & Skull from Power Rangers. In fact, Kirstee & Kaycee are kind of like female versions of Bulk & Skull. It's too bad that they were constantly forced into antagonistic roles. I saw them as being merely good natured goofs. Angelica Pickles from Rugrats was a much worse person than the Tweevils, IMO.

I'll probably think of some more examples later.

It's come up a few times here, but Rainbow the Clown from PPG. In his starring episode, against his will he's transformed into the villain Mr Mime. After being cured, he thanks the girls who proceed to beat him up and throw him in jail.

I don't remember starting a similar thread to this. The only one that I can remember is the exact opposite about villains that sincerely (pretending to be good, to fool the heros don't count) turned good temperarly or permentely, that never should have turned good.

Anyway couldn't agree with you more on those picks. I never cared for the Road Runner, the old school chases of one animal trying to catch the other animal, like the Road Runner, Jerry, Tweety, etc., I thought were brats and wouldn't have minded to see them get eaten.

In those competition episodes, in which Beastly competed in competition against the Care Bears such as the Safety Game Show or the Care A Lot games, I rooted for him to win. The exception being the Great Race, had he won No Heart would have tooken over Care A Lot. The poor guy has nothing going for him, he doesn't have the brains, the broans, have any technological knowledge or have any magic powers, all he is was the desire, he is the classic underdog. And he wanted to win so bad.

I thought it was unfair what happened to him at the end of the Care A Lot games. He won the paddle ball competition, though he cheated, there was no proof that he did. Just because Braveheart had a hunch that Beastly cheated, he gets disqualified. You can't DQ anyone without any evidence, even if you really think he cheated. That was BS, most people assume Barry Bonds is a cheater, but without proof, they can't do anything to him.

As you can see, I am a type of person that rooted for Dick Dastardly and Muttley to win on Wacky Races, he never won, sure he cheated, but could he win just once? I also rooted for the villains in other HB competition shows Scooby's Laff A Lumpics and Yogi's Space Race.

I am all for the good guys winning in the real world aspect of the battle of good and evil, but in sporting events, let the villains have their day once in a while.

Actually, the Really Rottens did win a couple of Laff-A-Lympics events, mainly in season 2. Once they won but they still weren't happy because they won honestly (they wanted to win by cheating). The last event in the final episode ended in a 3-way tie between all the teams.

I know, I was referring to Dick Dastardly in Wackey Races, he never won. On those other two shows, the villains won on a occasions, of course it was also the week they had a crappy price.

Yeah, it's not fair that Dick Dastardly couldn't win. One time he almost won, but then he was disqualified because the instant replay showed Dick extending the front of his car.

I thought the rules were that you could win the race with dirty tricks as long as you only used your car's special abilities, and not traps and stuff like that.

Let's not forget Pierce Thorndyke III and Bianca Dupree form The Beverly Hills Teens; no matter how crafty they were, no matter what stuff they did to their fellow BHTs, I can't help but feel sorry for them; they do have their kinder side on rare occasions, if any. And though they're only doing their jobs, I feel bad for Daffy, Wile E., Sylvester and Tom. Ditto for Bart and Eric Cartman.

The Seniors in two episodes of Kim Possible. Animal Attraction and Tripple S because the victoms of their villany weren't exactly sympathic characters, they were just out ride jerks.

Here's a few that I know that shouldn't have been:

Wil E. Coyote(Looney Tunes) - I agree with Blackstar, which I feel sorry for him as a villain for not catching the Roadrunner, but at least his ancester Tech was a pretty cool good guy.
Sylvester(Looney Tunes) - Like Tom, his villain role had alot of bashings from that annoying little monster Tweety.
Sideshow Bob(Simpsons) - He may be the main bad guy who wants revenge on Bart, but I feel sorry for him which he reason he framed Krusty is because he just wanted attention from the audience besides always Krusty.
Slash(TMNT) - He was a cool new bad guy being Bebop's pet turtle, but I wished that he would change and be a new good turtle to join the ninja turtles like Metalhead.
the 3 pigs(The Raccoons) - I always for sorry for them whenever they get bashed by Cyril, but they're not all that bad to me which they shown some good sides even in that one episode with their mother showing up is an example.
GIR(Invader ZIM) - He's so funny/weird/hilarious which I feel sorry for him on how ZIM treats him and maybe he should be free from ZIM one day since he's not that bad.
Gantu(Lilo & Stitch) - He may the bumbling sidekick for Hamsterval on catching those experiments, but I always feel sorry for him whenever Hamsterval bashes on him and he's shown to have good sides and that he's finally free from Hamsterval for good in the finale.
Hulk,Charles,Bruce(Viewtiful Joe) - They're always my favorite 3 dimwitted losers whenever that always lose to Joe, but I sorta feel sorry for them when they never get any respect after their failures and which they've shown to have good sides like the train episode and the
season 2 finale when they escaped Movieland.

Jhonen Vasquez talked in commentary about how Gir is delighted by the notion of taking over and/or obliterating the Earth and the human race, because Gir is delighted by positively everything and has no concept of good or bad, which is a common villain theme (the child with lethal superpowers, the ravenous alien) and defaults to destruction at any opportunity.

Actually, as I understand it, Chuck Jones intentionally created Wile E. Coyote to subvert the traditional predator/prey dynamic in cartoons, by having the constantly failing predator be the one the audience sympathizes with. So the Coyote isn't actually a villain, he's just a very unlucky hero.
