vietnam war help anyone?

no, we went there to stop communism and failed we could have finished it but the president decided to take out the troops and let south vietnam fend for itself. even if we did win the war i personally dont think it would have made much of a difference

I don't think anyone won they both lost. there should be no war because all their loosing is people's life's.

It was the first of America's politically waged wars. The only one that was successful to a degree, was Gulf One, but that was left unfinished because of political considerations which allowed the formation of the Coalition.

The Gulf of Tonkin Resolution gave Johnson complete authority to conduct the war as he saw fit from the White House (no congressional approval). At the time that Congress authorized it, the public was completely behind it.

It was the first TV war coming into American homes every nite. The media, the politicians, the military and the voters all had their opinions about the war and the country fractured into turmoil, which still resonates today!

Had the Presidents not run the war from their bedrooms, and let the Generals do their job, the world would be a better place. Was it worth it? In the case of Vietnam.....No! But is loss of life ever worth it?

It would have been decisively won but the politicians second guessed our forces and made it a disaster. As an example, whenever the VC attacked us with a jet, we were not allowed to chase them or bomb their airfields. Which is insane. We did not go to Korea or Germany or Japan for profit.
