Why is there such a problem.... Isn't it like 10+ stories? Its a damn community center with prayer space inside.

Why is this "insensitive"? Blacks were up in arms over this. I mean heck, that's some good food. I know many black people who eat this and enjoy it.

Seriously? Are they really planning on opening on that date?

If so, I think the building should be blown up. Open it a day earlier or later, but not on the 10th Anniversary. That is just fucking insulting, and deserve anything that happens to them on that day if they truly do plan on opening it then.

The Muslims always build a nice shrine where they conquer their enemies.

Why stop tradition?

Sorry, if you can't see that, then you are beyond me trying to explain why it would be distasteful for them to open a Muslim center on the 10th Anniversary of 9/11, on the very site of where one of the buildings that was destroyed in that attack was located. An attack that was plotted and carried out by an all Muslim crew who were shouting "allahu akbar" on the way down. Now if the attackers were shouting "Save me Jesus" and they build a Mosque there, that would be different, but sorry, not even you are this obtuse ... you are just fucking trolling.

Move it to another location OR another day, and I have no problems with it. Otherwise, fuck them, they get what they deserve and they get ZERO compassion from me if it turns bad.

I see your distinction, but it isn't as important as you are making it out to be. It's the same basic religion. If the psycho was a catholic, and a catholic church was opening, it would be an issue. Beyond that, if it was any church that was vehemently anti abortion, it would lack empathy. I'm not saying it would or should be illegal. But the odds of an unfortunate incident are very high in all those cases.

And the reason is a perceived lack of empathy, whether or not you feel like trying to say it doesn't really exist.

Right, if this was the Al-Qaeda Mosque of Islam opening...I'd agree with you.

But Islam and this specific center don't reflect those views. So this is very much like a Lutheran center opening near where the westboro retards did something outrageous.

I tried to explain this already. No one remembers history (or maybe they've scrubbed that out to be p.c.).

Go ahead, explain. Why is a building several blocks away from the ones attacked in poor taste to use as a civil center to honor Americans (Muslims included, many who died) who were attacked on 9/11?

A Muslim dies every time he blows himself up. Your point?

The ultimate sacrafice for God is to die for the cause (and this belief is not unque to Islam). Do I need to start quoting scripture for you?

sweet generalizations...Anything negative from any Muslim = All Islamic followers...gotcha.

No you can have your opinion. But people from NYC are actually quite tolerant of other races/religions. There are a few whackos like you guys. But mostly they wouldn't freak out over this issue....because it happens everyday and they interact with Muslims everyday. I'm sitting between two right now.

I hope they don't blow me up or something.

Al Qaeda isn't a Muslim sect. Since I'm mostly disinterested in Christian sects, I'm not sure what Lutherans believe in. I used the example of any vehement anti abortion sect. Even if you find one that isn't anti abortion, it's meaningless to my example. As I said before, you can say it isn't fair, but the vast majority of people will see it as lacking empathy. This makes it a problem. While I personally don't care what they do, I think this will end up being a horrible decision.

Tolerance = Intolerance

Someday you'll learn you are no better than the Muslim extremists you hate so very much.

So what is the stance in the Islamic faith (or Al Qaeda for that matter), on abortions?
