Well, I guess I'll have me a pulled pork sandwich, wear colorful clothes, drink some Jack Daniels, shave, shake hands with a woman, get me a pet dog and celebrate 1,378 years of "A religion of peace" tomorrow.

Why would I attend, I am not a Muslim. I'm sure those that are will be peaceful and happy.

Oh right, you're not from NYC....continue spewing your garbage.

Well its going to happen whether you agree with it or not, and Muslims have every right to open it there. All practicing Muslims shouldn't be punished because of the actions of the extremists within its religion......just as I shouldn't be chastised because of the beliefs of extremists within Christianity.

Well, we disagree. The attacks on 9/11 were done by extremists, of course. But these extremists felt they were living up to the ideals of Islam, no matter what you and the majority of Muslims...and I... think.

I would liken this to whatever church some dimwit Christian who murdered a doctor specializing in abortions belonged to opening a church next door to the now closed clinic. The church itself doesn't support the murderer. And maybe it was a great deal for the land. But it lacks empathy. While it's not an exact parallel, I think you get the gist of my opinion.

I think its distasteful and unsafe to build it so close, but the people here who think it was the Muslim religion that told these guys to fly planes into buildings, are idiots.

What religion made Timothy McVeigh blow up the car?

It has to do more with culture than anything else.

There's the problem. The extremists aren't from the same church...at all.

Same religion...but if a psycho christian blew up the clinic and then a Lutheran church put up a new community center 5 blocks away....it's not that big of a deal.

I'd ban all religion if I could.

We need to create a society built on truly post-Christian morals to create a new man from the ashes of old man. Ridding ourselves of religion would do much to bring that about.

So if you're not from NYC your verbal actions against Islam for creating this BS is garbage?

Why is it distasteful?
They deserve to show everyone they're not whackos like many people think they are. Many of them are Americans too and hate those attacks. Why is opening a cultural center on the 10 year anniversary distasteful?

Islam didn't attack America, extremist whacko's did. They do not represent Islam....and why you associate the two together you do so illogically.

It's called history my friend, something you lack obvious knowledge of. Whats the name of the Mosque they are building? hmm thats right Corboda, whats CORBODA you may ask? Well it's the name of the town which the Cathedral of Corboda stood, and was the first Cathedral to be changed into a Mosque by the conquering Moor armies.

YOUR RIGHT ITS NOT BAD TASTES, It's insulting

He gives you a hell of an argument, and you call him out as trolling.

You are fucking pathetic. Seriously.

Ah, I'll have to remember that one ...

For all the non-Illegal aliens or from Arizona.

Putting a mosque at Ground Zero is definitely bad taste, but I am not going to bitch about them doing it...they can do whatever they want.

But, they should know that putting a mosque there is not going to win them any new friends and it could possibly be targeted by other crazy nut jobs just like them.

He didn't give me a hell of an argument, he kept parroting the same bullshit time and time again after I gave my point of view. Just because the dumb son of a bitch doesn't agree with it isn't my fault.

You have to be a stupid son of a bitch, or trolling, if you don't understand why opening this thing, on the site of a building that destroyed on 9/11, on 9/11 is disrespectful.

While I do think that tehy should be allowed to build their mosque, there are too many things about this that are inappropriate and therefore cause me to think that this is to inflammatory for it to be built there.

1. The opening ceremony for it is on 9/11. Really? They couldn't have picked a better date? Extremely poor taste.

2. Mosques have in the past been built by Muslims on sites where they have had victories of battle - all the way back to Mecca and Medina. While this may not be the case here, it can certainly be misconstrued.

3. Safety of the Islamic practioners. It's 2 blocks from ground zero. There are crazy nutjobs in Catholicism and our local religions that may actually do harm to the innocents that visit the Mosque. The last thing we want is someone pulling a Timothy McVeigh and killing a couple dozen people at a Mosque, which would most likely only make relations in the Middle East worse.

4. The name Cordoba House is derived from Cordoba, Spain which was the capital of the Islamic empire back when Southern Spain was under Islamic control. Once the Muslims were booted out of Spain, there were a lot of claims that the Muslims would do whatever if took to reconquer Cordoba. The name alone can be inflammatory to some people.

5. On the 10 year anniversary of 9/11 people are going to be reminded of the tragedy that sent shockwaves across the nation by seeing a mosque constucted. I'm sorry but that is just too much for a lot of people. ESPECIALLY survivors and family members of victims.

6. They claim that this is going to be a seed of peace, but some of the worst things have come from the best of intentions.

That is why I don't support that Mosque being built there.

Sounds like you have such a grasp on history that you've got it all down.

Except that ......Cordoba is the word you're looking for....which refers to Cordoba, Spain. On of the biggest Islamic cultural centers of the dark ages, and one of the largest cities of Europe during it's time. One that promoted cultural acceptance of Jews and Christians with Muslims.

The only reason it was the first cathedral changed was because it was in the major city which thrived as a center of the Caliph of Cordoba. The mosque is now a christian cathedral...but it was built with the ruins of the visigoth cathedral. They're not celebrating conquering someone you ignorant faggot, they're celebrating one of the most important Islamic cities in history that was renown for it's culture, advancement and understanding.

Something I'm not surprised you've skipped over.
