Video Path Power Inserter or Switch Problem?

I got back from the long weekend and neither my 3100 nor 9200 were working. I phoned tech support and they suggested that a connection was loose. I switched the wire that both the 3100 and wire inserter were connected to with one of the ones into the 9200. With some fiddling I did get a partial signal back. However, I cannot get a signal out of the wire coming out of the power inserter. Is it possible there is something wrong with the power inserter or is it possibly the switch?

In the process I also think I may have misaligned my dish. When I check on the signal level for sat 82 it says "Wrong Sat - Bell ExpressVu 91"

When I do a check switch I get:

Anybody have any suggestions... The tech guy is coming next week and I'd rather not have to fork over 75 bucks (or more!)
 
Best thing to do is wire the 3100 directly to each LNB (one at a time) to ensure peaked signal with no switches. Then hook the rest of the stuff up.

That way you will know the dish is properly aligned and if your switch/power inserter is working or not.

I left it over night. Now in the morning the switch test states:

Missing Port 1b Sat 91 Even

Don't understand why one is now working perfectly while the other is not and the port that is missing has changed.
 
I'll give it a try. When you say redo the connectors, do you mean to take 'em all out and wipe 'em clean, or to cut the wire and make new connections?
 
I would cut the wire, restrip it and put a new connector on.

Is your SW44 mounted outside as well?
 
This could be alignment, cables, LNB or switch problems. First, get the dish aligned properly, as described in post #2. Treat this as a new installation, check the post with a level, then check skew, elevation and get a signal on 91. Then check the signal on 82. (Don't forget to do a check switch after each change.) Check both outputs of the LNBs. If everything is Ok, then hook up the SW44.
