I have a problem. I have a Nokia E62 from Rogers (Canada). I cannot play ANY file - be it divx, mp4, or 3pg smoothly on this device! I am using super and nothing will work. I have tried every setting, encoding in each DIVX, MP4 and 3GP. I have searcedh all over the net for configurations and tried all of them but none will work.

Is the E62 not as powerful as the E61? I didnt think they had different processeors - just one had 3g and lan and one didnt.

Anyways, if anybody knows anything, please help!

Thanks,
xaint

Yeah its probably the lame @$$ rogers firmware that is preventing you from playing anything, I can play divx fine on my E61.

No, DIVX works. 3GP and MP4 only play the audio, and just show the first frame the whole time.

The DIVX isnt smooth though, Its very rough, and sound + audio usually dont match.

i have the same issue with cingulars e62. it comes with real video player that plays cingular video fine but mp4 will only play the sound. i found a couple of video players on the web but they dont do mp4. anyone found a mp4 player?

Anyone have any feedback on the atrocious video playback performance of the E62? (Besides the really helpful "don't buy a branded smartphone." )

The specs on this phone are quite sufficient to do a decent job playing video, and I don't understand why it's so bad. I've tried everything from the built-in Real player to the DivX player, and at its best video is choppy and rough. I've had older Series 60 phones and many "dumb" phones that can manage smooth video, why not this one?

I also found my e62 only plays sounds for mp4. However, with the Nokia media viewer, I was able to open my videos on my desktop and then select "save as" which allowed me to select mp4 or 3gp. I found if you select either with the setting of "no size limit" it worked for me.

The software that came with my phone, included the Nokia PC Suite so I could synch my phone, manage files, etc. It also includes the Nokia Multimedia Player.

I have the E61 and I have the same problem too. Not even RMVB files work! How sad is that? Real player can't play it's own format! I get sound but no video.

Sorry about that, I meant in the Nokia Media Viewer that came with the Nokia PC Suite. Select your video you want on your PC and "save as." Then select mp4 or 3gp and "no size limit" and that worked for me. I was able to view it fine in my Real Player on my phone after transfering it back over.

I havent had any problem playing RM files or MP4 files created with Super. Why dont you all try downloading SUPER and then using the settings in some of the FAQ's. Rae

Okay ... I just spent one hour on the phone with Rogers. It seems that everyone's problem is due to the Rogers firmware. What a surprise.

The Rogers firmware only allows you to install 10 seconds of video content to the PHONE MEMORY. It also limits the quality and the playback, resulting in the pixelated, video freezing, audio mess that everyone is experiencing.

Now, I haven't tried this, but, I was told that if you install the video to the CARD MEMORY, then this problem is solved.

So, try the following (I can't because I do not have a mini SD card ... yet). Open PC Suite. Select the program 'View Multimedia'. This will open the program 'Nokia Multimedia Player'. Browse to the video that you want to transfer to your E62. Then click File>save as. Once in this dialogue box select the location to be the E62 - MEMORY CARD. Also in the file settings select Type as MP4 or 3GP, and the resolution limit as 'no limit'. Now, there are two or three 'no limits' so, some help here would be appreciated, I don't know which one corresponds to the screen on the E62 (240x320 is not an available setting). So if anyone knows, or tries all three, let everyone know which one was best.

Hope this helps.

I can't confirm any of that as I am on Cingular, but I have figured out how to get full res 320x240 video on my E62 that is fairly crisp and looks Great.

I encode them in DivX with some unique settings and they work great.

See that is why its always better to buy an unbranded smart phone, I've had no such problems with my E61 as what you are describing rdambros.
