Very swollen and painful lymph node in neck

Since Friday (about a week) my lymph node just under my jaw on the left side has been very swollen and painful. I went to the doctor Monday and he agreed that it was too swollen and that I have some sort or virus. He was quite sure I had strep but the test was negative. He decided then that it was xome other virus and gave me amoxicillin to bring down the swelling. It hasn't so far, though I know it's still early.

I went to the doctor with the other symptoms of other pains in my neck from other, less swollen, lymph nodes, fatigue and headaches, all since Friday as well. I'm in highschool and I stayed home today because it's just so hard to make it through the day when I'm so exhausted.

I thought it may be mono but given that I haven't had a fever and I only have a very mildly sore throat, it doesn't seem likely.

Does this sound normal? I'm sure it is but I wanted to get other's opinions too.

It's 11 at night (and I have to be up at 6 in the morning) and I cannot seem to find a position to lay down in that doesn't absolutely kill my neck where the lymph node is swollen. I've been taking the amoxicillin since Monday... and as I said, one of the symptoms of whatever virus I have is fatigue so this is truly annoying and not at all helpful.

I'm getting a bit desperate now...

Well I went to the doctor and he found more swollen lymph nodes and did a test for mono. I haven't gotten the results back but with the spotting of white stuff in my throat and my continued fatigue and swollen glands, I'm quite sure that's what it is.

However, my one lymph node has grown and it looks and feels like the top half of a golf ball. It's huge and painful. I'm assuming this is normal with mono but I don't know.
