I have an iphone 3g with a broken digitizer/glass and the phone is working perfectly fine. But after I replaced the digitizer and turn the phone back on, it goes to the apple logo screen and stuck over there. I tried to put it in restore mode and comes back with error 1603. This is the second phone which has the same issue. Any suggestion how to fix it?

connect the phone to itunes and upgrade to iOS4.0.1 and then jailbreak with redsn0w

@kings121

you are a bad adviser, do you ever know how useless that phone will be if he follow your advice?

have you unlocked a ios4 with network?

@wagnei
ignore him and just power it off by holding power and home key together for 10 seconds, then try power on again or put in dfu mode and out again, maybe solve problem otherwise restore to 3.1.3 by dfu or recovery (hold home and plud in cable)

Have u Tried to Reset the phone ??

Hold MENU & POWER BUTTON for 15 Seconds.

I tried all that but still get stuck at "preparing iphone for restore". Do you think I did something wrong while I replace the digitizer of the phone, or it's just an coincident. I have an iphone which got the same problem as this one, it stuck at the apple logo right after I change the digitizer. Before I changed it, it worked perfectly fine.

tried, but phone is not going to the menu after that. No matter how many times I restore the phone, I still get error 1603 or 1604.

@wagnei

You have to be very UnLucky with them iPhones,
wish to see quality of Your glass replacement ( double sticky tape he?)
If You have Killer hands, and can brick phone during such easy procedure
give job to professional service,

No shame in this, for instance:
from time to time I (myself) have to give processors for reball (ing)
because I allways overheat IC (flash or Rap etc)
and I pay for that good money...

but with them iPhone glasses: hmm...

Ya, I don't know why, but I repair so many iphone digitizers and only 2 of them have this problem. Oh well, I can't think of any other solution at all.

thank you so much for your advice. I tried ireb already but the phone didn't go to white screen to let me restore. I will check the flex cables. Just curious, why do flex cables, or specifically #4 cable, will cause the phone to be stuck at apple logo? Why hardware change can affect software this way?

It seems these guys prefer insulting one another rather than learn to solve problems.

First off, no one suggested irecovery? Not that I think this is the problem, but someone should have come up with that one as this looks like it is an auto-boot issue. BUT, it isn't.

You need to look at the cause, and that can only be something from when you had it apart.

Very often this will happen if the flex cable connector on the bottom left, thats #4, is disconnected or loose. Check that connection, if it is slightly off it would cause this. If not, check the rest of the flex cables. It has to be something physical, it would not make any sense and you have gone through the motions regardless. Pop off the screen and double check everything even if u think u didn't touch it, check it.

Wow, newbies around here giving their expert advice, wait newbies can't give expert advice thats an oxymoron...strike that, reverse it!

Let me know when your done restoring my man!

As well as checking connector 4 is plugged in tightly try to restore the phone with connector 3 ( earspeaker and prox sensor ) disconnected

open your phone

take out your phone pcb

then wait for 1hr

change batt also if its low

put pcb and pack your set

then restore it in recovery mode with 3.1.3 if not done with 3.1.3 use 4.0

its work for me 4 times

i just heping u

thanx

you tried everything, just try thing too - take mainboard from frame and put again after some time

I had the same problem on a couple of iphones. Remove your Proximity flex. This problem was hardware to begin with. Now you flashed the phone. Make sure to remove the proximity flex. If your phone dont start up, reload software. If it flashes with error, use irecovery. If it works, reconnect your flex, and try to start. If it is stuck on apple logo, your proximity flex need to be replaced.
This will really work. Contact me if you dont manage.
