That makes sense.
OKAY. So what I'm understanding is, the $29.99 is just unlimited INTERNET and EMAIL. I noticed there was a data plan for roughly $50 which is "unlimited data".
Soo.. in order to use the WiFi on the XV6800, I would have to sign up for "unlimited", not "Web and Email".. otherwise I will get charged?

Hmm...I'm not sure about the $50 plan.

I know the $29.99 plan includes unlimited web browsing/email.

Wi-Fi, as long as you have some (any) data plan, will be free...unless you are using it at a hotspot that requires you to pay (like Starbucks).

Thanks for the information.
This is all kind of confusing to me. Especially the WiFi.
So, does the phone itself make a wireless connection from the data package, or does it NEED one? Like my home connection. I'm not too sure what you mean by using it at a hotspot.
If that makes sense..
I'm sorry if these are all stupid questions.. I'm just trying to gather as much information about the phone before I get it.
But, I'll be sure to double check with the people at a verizon store.
Maybe I can find a person that knows what they're actually talking about. Today I called a store near me and some retard working told me the XV6800 didn't require a data package. Then, when I went into a store they said it did.. then when I called the other store back, they also said it did.

Okay. Now I kind of feel like an idiot. I was under the impression that it gave off a wireless connection! My friend has one of these and I overheard him saying that we could connect our computer with his wireless connection from him phone..
Wow! Maybe I'm not ready for one of these :(

Using the WiFi feature on any phone does not require a data plan. If the phone is WiFi capable it does not touch VZW when using WiFi.

A hot spot is just another name for a connection to a Wireless network that is for public use. (Your house if you have wireless could be considered a Hot Spot, especially if it is not secured)

If your wireless is not secured then your phone and your friends (and anyone else with WiFi) will be able to connect to your home network.

All VZW Samrtphones and BB's require a data plan, no matter what plan or data feature you currently have.

I think what your friend might have been talking about is connecting his phone to your PC/Laptop as a tethered modem and using the unlimited data feature of his phone to allow your PC/Laptop to surf the Internet. Basically the phone would act like the Broadband cards that VZW has.

This allows you to not be limited by the availability of Hotspots when traveling with your Laptop.
