***VERIZON WIRELESS ESN/ACTIVATION HELP NEEDED!! PLEASE HELP!!***?

i bought a verizon voyager from craigslist, and when i got home and tried to activate it onto my account, verizon told me that they can't activate it onto my line because according to the ESN number, it's still active on the person i bought it from's account. and now i can't get in touch with the woman i bought it from, but when i bought it, she told me she had cancelled her service with verizon and the phone would be good to go. (clearly, that is not the case.) so what i really need to know is, is there any way to activate the phone i got from her??? coz otherwise i just got scammed out of my money!! PLEASE HELP ASAP!!!!!!!!
 
all you have to do is wait a little while, because there account HAS to run out after like 2 months of not paying, befcause they arent gonna pay the bill while you have the working phone.
