I am a newb at this, so bare with me.

Cricket is coming to my area and I plan on activating phones on Cricket.
My question is: Besides putting crickets prl on the phone, I will have to do other things to make internet and msg' work, right?

Please help me understand what is needed and the steps to accomplish. I know it will be different for each phone. I am looking for "in general" assistance.

Is there specific firmware I can use on a phone that will put all settings needed for all cricket prepaid features to work? If so which phones and where can I get the firmware needed for that model.

What area is that?
If its a new market meaning an AWS market, you WILL NOT be able to use any verizon, sprint, us celullar phone there, meaning that you are stuck with crickets line up.

AWS is a frequency basically. Since cricket has AWS spectrum, and AWS phones, they are the only one using it. Until another carrier starts using AWS frequencies, they don't make phones for those frequencies yet.

AWS markets require AWS phones.

i think it is pretty reasonable at this point to assume that no one will be rolling out cdma service over AWS frequencies besides metro and cricket/leap. verizon bought out alltel for their expansion instead of building out any AWS, and us cellular which was our best hope is looking more and more like they will wait for a 4g tech (did they pick LTE yet?) before they roll out in any new markets in with their AWS holdings.
