Verizon text to Straight Talk?

Here's the deal. I'm going to get a new cell phone soon. My best friend has a 2 year contract with Verizon Wireless. Part of the contract deals with unlimited texting to any other Verizon Wireless consumer. My dad is going to get me Straight Talk. Straight talk is owned by Tracfone which is owned by Verizon Wireless so they share Verizon's tower. Does this mean, under my friend's contract, that she will be able to text me unlimitedly? Or will this be an issue for us both? Thank you for any help you can provide!
 
No. Even though Straight Talk and/or Tracfone might be owned by Verizon, they are different brands, maybe even different companies. The free texting isn't advertised as being for phones that are Verizon-owned; rather it's for Verizon-branded phones.
