Verizon running a Credit Check for adding a line

I've been with Verizon for more than 5 years. Throughout that time I have had less than 3 late payments. Now that I want to add a line to my family plan they want to run a credit check again.

With in the last year my credit has become bad. What are the chances that if they run credit check they will want to drop me? What else would happen? Some sort of deposit?
