verizon phones please help?

okay so my phone randomly shut off and wont turn back on and i went into verizon to see what was wrong and they said it had water damage so i have to order a new phone and they think it might just be the battery. i was wondering if i switched to a different phone if when i turn on the new phone my texts that i havent read yet will get sent to the new phone...please help
