Verizon Phone With Best Signal Strength?

This is my first post here; It looks like a great site. I hope this is it in the correct section.

Anyways I am on the Verizon network, and where I live I get absolutely no service at all. About 99.8% of the time my phone says "Searching For Service", while the other .2% it says I have digital service but currently have no bars. I live in a relatively flat valley between two 175M hills. There are large trees around 50 percent of my house. I can not call or send any text messages within my house. To send a text message I have to climb out my window and then about 4M up to the top of my roof. There I am able to send a text message but never able to complete a call. I currently have the Envy 2, but my family has the Motorola MOTO
 
i always thought it just depended if your town had the cell towers, i usually never got good service at my house until they put up a cell tower nearby? so *shrug*
 
I have 2 cell towers within three miles of my house. The Verizon.com service map says I should have perfect service. But unfortunatley that is not so. I heard that different cell phones can drastically improve cell service in certain areas. I heard of cases similar to mine where a swap in the phone supplied 2+ bars. But that discussion was out in early 2008. Now its 2009 and there are so many new phones, which many new capabilities.

But all I want is the very best signal strength regardless of the phone.
 
Can't comment on exactly which Verizon phone performs best, but can definitely validate that each phone may perform differently in average or weak coverage. If coverage is strong, and a tower is nearby, etc., no problem - probably all phones will work fine (or good enough). But, it's when coverage is weak that a phone with a good antenna (most are internal antennas these days) can make a difference. Currently, I think the only way to judge is by trial and error - if your carrier will let you test drive a few different phones (one at a time, of course) for limited time at your home & surrounding areas.

Looking into that, Verizon does offer a return policy on newly purchased phone. I think I am going to go to the Verizon store tomorrow, and test drive one. Any suggestions on which one to start with?

Well, despite other theories, the phone has little impact on the actual coverage you receive. Back in the day, you use to have options. These options were to get one with an internal antenna or an external antenna. External antennas worked better in mountainous areas.

Nowadays, you don't have these options. You have an internal antenna or nothing.at all.

Do you have some kind of broadband or cable internet? Basically any kind of internet besides dial-up? If so, look into the network extender. Since you're clearly in an area that is services by Verizon...but you're just having issues since their are surrounding mountains, the network extender should do the trick. It basically plugs into your internet modem (like a desktop PC would) and it provides 5,000 square feet worth of coverage.

Thanks for the info. Although I am not ready to jump the gun and pay for a network extender yet, I will keep that in mind.

The two phones I am currently looking at getting is the LG Env3 or one of the high end Motorolas. I would still like some input on which phone gets the best reception for 2009. I heard alot of rumors but nothing confirmed.
 
Although the phone has little impact on wireless reception, LGs have been said to operate better on the Verizon Wireless network.
