I can trade in my vx8100 next month and am looking for suggestions for a replacement. I want something similar, preferably a phone that is easy to get free WAP on. Any help is greatly appreciated!
I am in the same boat you are in (I can upgrade now and I use vx8100), but I have a modification. I would really like to get a smartphone or BB. I am impatient as H-E-double hockey sticks and wish verizon would release the new Pearl. I was going to just buy the 700p, but from reading posts on this site it seems like the 700p is dated and that verizon may release some new phones in late May or June.
verizon is not getting the pearl or the curve... soon anyways. the bb8830 looks nice but since its hybrid phone (GSM/CDMA) i think it might be expensive. The 8830 is geared towards business users because there are not as many customization options like with with the pearl. it doesnt even have a camera but it looks pretty cool it has like a trackball in the middle im assuming its suppose to act like a mouse.
I would switch services if there was a good reason to. I would like more information about easily getting free ringtones and internet access. I don't know that much about the other services but Verizon charges so much for it's internet service and the games are over $5 just for a month! I used to be able to get free WAP on my vx8100 and I can't figure it out now. Do the other providers offer these features cheaper? I would like a phone that is somewhat easy to load on games or ringtones because it seems like verizon is overpriced for these types of features.
Switching carriers just to get a phone is not always a good idea. You need to make sure the new carrier has service where you need it, where you live, work, travel and play. No matter how great the phone is, it is useless with no connection.
