I have spent all day long on this site trying to see if I could get my old Verizon LGVX9800 to use my Cricket Service since I switched from verison to cricket and I hated the older slider phone that I was using.
I downloaded QPST and I hooked my VX9800 to the PC with the USB cable. I had to add COM3 that the phone was located on then it saw my phone.
Then I downloaded the PRL file that I found here PRL_1039
I opened QPST Service programming I use the model QCT-7200 I clicked read from phone and it loaded most of the phones NAM settings and stuff then I clicked on the Roam tab and under preferred Roaming where it says file name I clicked browse and located the prl1039 file then I clicked write to phone and my phone restarted. Then I dialed *611 on the phone and it connected to cricket Customer service!
I called Cricket technical support and told them I wanted to update my ESN for my phone. They charge $15 to change this BTW.
Then after I got off the phone with them I dialed *228 and it programmed the phone and it now works with Cricket Service!
Text messaging works fine all my MP3's and MP3 ringtones work fine as well,
AIM doesn't work and picture messaging isn't working either. I think there are more settings in there that I may need to change around. If anyone knows how I can get the pix and AIM to work and what settings I need to change please help me out it would be greatly appreciated.
If anyone else would like help doing this let me know and I'll be happy to help.
