Verizon is offering to upgrade my phone

Hello to all here.

I am new here and have a Verizon plan which is now over 3 years old. They keep calling me telling me I am eligible for a free phone upgrade. I have not yet done this because I am trying to figure out what to do. I have read about unlocked phones and know cell phones will do a lot more than what cell phone companies will allow them to do. I also do not know if I should check into getting a phone that can be used internationally because I believe I read they are more powerful and get longer battery life and a better signal.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I am not sure but I think I read somewhere Verizon will not allow unlocked phones on their network. I used to use AT&T and I had a lot more freedom with my phone as far as sending things to my phone but it could also be the difference in the phone itself not neccessarily the provider. I live in upstate NY and my signal is neither better nor worse than it was with AT&T. However, T-Mobiles reception is spotty in some spots. So I think it depends more on the area that you live in and the coverage each company has there.
