Verizon/Alltel Violating Contract

I was recently part of the Verizon/Alltel merger. Two months ago I renewed my contract and got a new Palm Pre Plus. I love the phone. So far, so good.

Here's where the problem starts... They are migating me BACK to Alltel. They said my Palm Pre would not work on the Alltel network and they would have to send me a new phone. What they sent me was a Palm Treo. I called them to have them send me the correct phone. They informed me Alltel does not have the Palm Pre.

This is the crux of the problem. When I renewed my contract just two months ago, I did so for the discount on, and the susequent use of the Palm Pre.

Their first approach was to try to convince me the phone was "close enough" and I should accept it. I won't go into the details of the phones. If you are interested you can look them up. I would not accept their resonse so I continued to press them to correct the problem.

I have spent about 6 hours on the phone with both Verizon and Alltel. After each trying to send me back to the other to solve the problem, I am right back where I started. They have stated they can not give the the phone I signed the contract for, and they will NOT let me out of my contract.

I would like to know if anyone else is having a similar problem. If so, are you getting any resolution?
