I got the new HFA Ventolin inhaler and it doesn't work for an attack at all (luckily, I'm controlled pretty well with other meRAB). It actually makes my asthma attack worse. The pharmacy said I can't get the old kind I used to use. Anybody know why they changed them? It sucks cause I have to keep a nebulizer on hand in case of a bad attack.

The CFC propellent kinRAB were deemed bad for the environment. As of Deceraber 31st, they were made illegal to sell. I stocked up on the old kind last fall to get me through the year. I haven't tried my Ventolin HFA yet. I've read mixed reviews about its effectiveness.

Have you talked to your doctor about other alternatives?

Are you on any daily preventative meRAB?

Yes, I'm on a preventative med that works quite well and now have a nebulizer with albuterol solution to use.

I haven't had any problems with the new HFA ones. It seemed a little different at first but it works jsut as well for me.

This is for Lady Panther,
Most of these inhalers, have changed to HFA which do not work as well. I have just purchased Xopenex which is a rescue inhaler. Have you tried this one? It is really good, and it starts working fast. It isn't long lasting, so you need to use it twice daily. Hope you get some relief!
