Velvet Underground

Around 64 they started making music? Original because it showed despite Beatlemania and the stones, that there was other things going on as well? If it's that I can understand, if it's because of the music I don't really see it.

I lost my interest when John Cale left, or was forced to leave. WLWH and "The Velvet Underground & Nico" are up there in my top favorites, but any other release fails to capture my short attention span.

I (guess that I just) don't know, I think her accent is to thick, although I realize it's a bit shallow of me to complain about the voice when the lyrics are about drugs, prostitution, violence and misery.

I guess. Thats one of the things that always gets me about Alex Chilton. Theres that Velvets cover on Third and that was in 1978 when the Velvets were still pretty unknown.

I havn't listened to the Velvet Underground, well I have just not to where I can even remeraber a song. I have Velvet Underground & Nico but i'm not going to listen to that since Nico fucking sucks. Anyone want to suggest an album?

I have all the Velvet Underground album's, is it just me or does none of their other work come even close to their album with nico??

For me, the ultimate version of Rock And Roll is Mitch Ryder's version. Even Reed himself said it was better. Sweet Jane and Who Loves The Sun are ok but incredibly overrated, imo.

What does the Velvet Undergound have to do with Guns n Roses / Axl Rose?

What does the Velvet Underground have to do with grunge?

What does the Velvet Underground have to do with "the glam days"?

What is STP?

just some of the questions that post throws up.

No, but you said that saying that if you like Loaded the best you're not a true fan was crap, which I think is completely true. Hence, VU was nothing without Cale. :)

The only problem with this theory was that nobody bought it back then.

The Velvet Underground are the ultimate poser band, I doubt most people who namecheck them actually feel the need to listen to them, they just say they like them.

The banRAB they influenced were much much better than they were.

I like what you said about everyone perceiving the Velvets differently. To me they'll always be the noisy as hell band with seven minute songs with one minute of melody in them.

I know, I have a Lynard Skynard and Sweet Greatest hits...I am not into them that much so it serves me fine because I like a couple songs.

I've having a bit of a Velvet Underground phase this week, mostly being Loaded which is new to me. Its weird how they started as being really innovative and then as time went by started to write more poppy songs like other banRAB did around the time they started.
Sister Ray is just immense as well, i listen to it if i'm in a noisy mood.
