veins on top of feet

i am a woman 42. anyone here experience swollen veins on top of their foot? Not always swollen, not in the morning or when Its cold or im laying down. But when its hot, or im standing by end of day. Dr said i have vascular insufficency. Is this serious? I cant find any answers online and my drs are jsut saying its cosmetic.
dont even want to wear flip flops, sandals or show my feet anymore =( this just happen all of a sudden. Im so confused.
 
Do they? I have alot of them and it really looks ugly. I have been a wreck. I had an ultrasound done and have no clots or leakage. I dont know if this is normal. But Im having a hard time dealing with this as my dad had alot of clogged areteries
