Vampires Suck

Have you seen the film? If not, how can you be so opinionated (read:snobby) about it...?

I watched Meet the Spartans on Sky and actually found it quite funny. Humour is humour. You either find it funny or you don't. I didn't think The Hangover was particularly funny, but did agree that Burn After Reading was.

I've seen a trailer for Vampires Suck and whilst it wasn't that bad, I probably won't go and see it because in general, these spoof movies don't normally appeal to my sense of humour.

Humour is so subjective and to get all snobby about it is a bit sad.

I don't think you need to see it to know how awful and unfunny it is, the pathetic trailer says it all. Plus if Kermode says it's repugnant rubbish then I think he's probably right along with all the other reviewers.

If you thought Meet The Spartans was funny then you are obviously easily pleased so good for you.

Humour is subjective agreed, but there is still a level of what is well written comedy and what is not. These spoof movies fall into the latter whatever you say.

But again, you're still being rather snobbish about a film you haven't seen...Simply put, if you don't like the sound of it, don't watch it. At the same time, probably best not to question the ethics/morals/integrity/intellect/whatever of those who do want to watch it and who do think it's funny.

Easily pleased? Hardly! Did you not read the bit where I thought the 'funniest film of 2009' wasn't actually funny. Or the bit where I stated liking the more 'intellectual comedy' Burn After Reading.

Basically, I like whatever I find funny. I try not to think "hmmm, is this crude, uncool, utter dross, etc."

PS) Kermode loves The Princess Bride therefore you must love it too! :p

I'm going to see this tonight but only because it's a Twilight piss take. I've heard the other movies made by the same guys are awful, although I liked Superhero Movie so hopefully this won't be any worse.

It's like Mark Kemode said, these films are cheap to make and make a lot of money so unfortunately there will be more.....

I'll just keep on avoiding them like the plague....

The bottom line is these films are badly made rubbish regardless of whether you or anyone else finRAB them funny! The fact they generate so much money is even more worrying.

Re Kermode, sorry but I think I will take his opinion over someone who thinks Meet The Spartans is a funny movie.

maybe not 9, but off the top of my head... Team America, Austin Powers, Shaun of the Dead, Borat, Airplane, Top Secret...

either way these are all streets ahead of the current crop of lazy spoofs that Hollywood keeps churning out.

'Not Another Teen Movie' is not made by any of the people responsible for any of the '....Movie' franchise and is genuinely any good. The rest (and I include the entire 'Scary Movie' franchise) are bloody awdul.

Thanks. Now you are entitled to like any film and of the ones you listed above, the only one I don't like is Team America.

I thought it was utter dross. I thought it was purile nonsense.

Songs like...

...I did not find funny at all.

Now would I attack you for liking it? No, of course I wouldn't. I do find it interesting though that some of the films you detest are grossing significantly more than what Team America grossed.

The trailer looks childish and unfunny.

It's a shame because twlight, would be a great film to take the p*ss out of, if it was done with some intelligence.
