Valkyria Chronicles

This was a good game. And from the looks of it it's a good anime as well. Because I've played the game and it's the english version, I wouldn't be abl eto get into the voices of the japanese anime. So I'll have to wait until this is available in englihs.

Very very rarely, I'll use raws and do it myself, but for Valkyria, I've been using some........people....I don't care to.......know their names.

Yeah i'm pretty sure this is it. Faldio probably came across it while researching Valkyrie. Still wow, his entire squad wiped out and Isara gone...looks like they're killing off a lot of people now as they get to the end.

Spoilers added. Please do not discuss material that hasn't been covered in the anime yet, even if that material is available in other media.

I haven't been keeping close watch on this series through blogs since it doesn't seem that much better than the game which is why I was keeping tabs through blogs in the first place. Things are a bit different in the game since instead of broken Faldio taking very desperate measures, [blackout]he idiotically sniped Alicia with a sniper rifle, though not as fatally wounded since she was shot in the shoulder, that was easily traced back to him.[/blackout] I suppose the anime made it a tad bit more sensible. But that doesn't excuse the anime from losing direction and focus early on with all those fillers. And honestly, the story for both the anime and game is about as cliched, shallow, and poorly written as any other typical anime or JRPG. The game especially had a really bad habit of quickly changing mood from cute and light-hearted to dark and soraber back to cute and light-hearted, all in the same chapter.

Never played the game although I'd like to. It isn't my type of genre though, so it wouldn't help.
Either way, about the anime, I do feel it takes itself very lightly. I don't know if it's an aftermath of the game or not, but I do feel a more 'serious' setting would have been more interesting. Right now it's like it doesn't take itself seriously and just runs along happily with roses.
But I do actually enjoy it to an extent. Jaeger is always a joy to watch.

EDIT: @ 2 posts above, the anime is scheduled to be 26 eps.

So I I just watched ep 21.

It would seem that I was not to far off about the Valkyrian awakening because of a near death experience. I told you AK crazy **** happens. You are usually right about most things you predict but this time I got you.

Wowsers it's WW3 in here.

The 5th episode was another good one although I don't think those tactics would be working in real life, still it was good to see them all work as a team and getting done what that coward couldn't do, seems like that guy who told them all to retreat has taken a liking to Alicia.

The series is a huge disappointment to those who know the actual storyline of the Valkyria Chronicles PS3 game. I cannot spoil the contents here but i can say the anime was seriously edited and cut into pieces that it is almost a different story.....and some important bits are either missing or exaggerated. I stopped at ep 10.

I finally caught up in the anime. A large nuraber of discrepancies, but it's still somewhere in the vein of things.
Yes, Alicia is a Valkyria as well. But you must ask yourself.......
Why didn't Cordelia do anything? Surely a decendent of Valkyrian blood could have done more to assist.

I'll leave it at that.

As far as game-to-anime things have gone, the fight between Alicia and Selvaria was pretty much spot on (the fight choreography). However, the Batomys was not supposed to show up in this battle, but waaaaay back at the Barious Ruins (the place where Faldio got the Ragnite shard). It's weakness is still the same with the ragnite cooling generators. If there's anything the imperials love.....it's their fortress tanks.

And if you're caught up in the anime...
Alicia's Valkyrian power wasn't supposed to awaken in this fight either. She was supposed to have been shot at the end of this mission.

I can't say I agree with you on this at all. I find Valkyia Chronicles' story to be very well written, especially for an RPG built around the concept of a pseudo- WW II. The flipside-emotion idea wasn't a bad concept IMO. I found it to actually display a light-hearted ide of war.

To each their own, though.

I don't blame you. It feels a bit strange hearing it in Japanese doesn't it? Is it me, or did Welkin's hair look grayish in the game? In CG cutscenes, they showed up brown, but it sometimes gave the impression that it's gray in the in-game cutscenes.
Not to stereotype, but I've often found the anime generation most interested in RPGs. Valkyria Chronicles is like an RTS/RPG, but it's certainly interesting that you feel that way. It's honestly one of the most amazing games I've ever played with an incredible storyline.

26 episodes? w00t!

Naw, WWIII would have destroyed the forums by dinner time lol. It was a disagreement. My good man Volk doesn't exactly favor the differences (or discrepanices, whichever way you see it) between the game and the anime, but I personally don't mind that it's been more....."localized" in favor of a viewing audience.
No, those tactics would never work, but there's a reason that we saw a relationship between Faldio and Alicia, and it's crucial. It's not on that level trust me. Faldio's just a charmer like that, but there is a reason he has his interests, but he may not be quite aware yet if that makes sense.

It's just something that can't be omitted from the game's story. Things seem to be progressing nicely. Just remeraber what Alicia said. Not gonna specify because that'd just be uncivilized.

your question of why Cordilia didn't fight being Valkyria herself would be solved near the end of the anime (i suppose, it should have been solved long ago).........It's the perfect example of a good story, ruined. They shouldn't had killed off Isara if they've decided to be original. The shock is too great.

Isn't this series supposed to be based more on the manga rather than the game? I haven't played the game or read the manga but from what I've read, the manga storyline is a bit different from the game.

Also I have no problem with the anime diverging from the game's storyline as long as it works. There's no rule saying that adaptions need to follow the source material strictly. And whether or not the game storyline is better is only a matter of opinion anyway.

Oh no, I already know lol. It was sort of a question for people who've never played the game to take that into account.

I've had the game since day 1 haha.
