V3c Picture caller I.D. problems.....help!

I can't for the life of me get a picture to come up on caller I.D. when it is saved to a phonebook contact. When I go to the contacts list, the pic showes up next to the name, but does not show on the internal or external screen when the contact calls me! Caller I.D.'s are turned on and I am clean out of ideas. Is anyone else having this issue with their cricKet Razr?

Well, after I found that website I went back to the flyer I got before buying the Razr, and what do I see? A little asterisk by the Picture Calling ID feature. I go to the bottom of the flyer, and yes, it does say that it's a network dependent feature, not available in all areas. I don't really get it. The Audiovox I'd been using till last week with Cricket was two years old and the Picture caller ID always worked. I'm going to go later this morning to the Cricket store (I'm in the Boise market), and I will come back and post their excuse.

Thanx for your response all. This has been driving me crazy and think it is absolute BS that the Razr doesnt support this. I had the Kyocera Candid and Xcursion and pic caller i.d. worked fine on them.

Again, thank you for putting my mind at ease....at least I know it's not something I'm doing.

sometime last month they started shipping v3c's with the GATW_0.9.02.00R software on it. this is the updated version of the software, however i do not believe that cricket has it available for flashing existing phones yet. if they will let you exchange it under waranty i would take that option for the $10. unfortunately that is not available to me. i will probably end up switching to one of the nokia before the flash is available. i hope they are still on track for next month!!

this can probably be hacked. but motorola did take out some features for cricket to keep the cost of the phone down. i just got my razr and am trying to figure out how to do this, extend the video length, and some other stuff. the good news though is that obex is still in the bluetooth profile.

Okey, so after going to two cricket stores, calling the cricket tech support as well as the Motora tech support, I still don't have a definite answer. All of them told me that the picture caller ID should work, but it doesn't. At one of the cricket stores we tried two razr phones and another model of motorola phone that they carry, and the picture ID feature won't work in any of them, but it does work in the Kyoceras and Audiovoxes. The lady at Motorola tech support told me to do a master reset and, if that didn't work, to exchange the phone. But that sounRAB to me like a pain in the *** and I have the feeling it still won't work.

I read from one of you about a flash in June. Where did you hear that? And will you be willing to share with us when you know for sure that the stores have the flash? Do you think that the flash will enable the picture caller ID feature? Thanks so much!

This is good to know, providing the flash doesn't screw up some other part of the phone. I hear so many horror stories about folks that get their phone flashed only to have something else freeze up or something.

Sorry, guys, I am not intending to hijack the thread but does anyone of you know if GATW_09.02.00R (Cricket) on the V3c will allow you modem calls? Like to my own dialup ISP provider.

If not, what should I do? I hear about Alltel... what is it and will that work on a Cricket phone?

Thanks to all!!

i think mines have the newer software like simple3 said
if u really want the pic caller id u should take it 2 a cricket main store and exchange it for $10

my software is GATW_09.01.00R

acording to my source motorola "forgot to put it(picture id) in" the flash that is coming is supposed to fix this and the problem with the backlight timer. you may be able to unlock the picture id with a seem edit, i'm not sure and don't want to break my 2 week old phone to find out when i can wait another 2-3 weeks to get the flash.
