V&H Twin Slash slipons?

a bit of a gongshow with mine.....
i installed the 4.5" twin-slash muffs while i waited for the backordered quiet baffles.they were loud as hell and barked off 149 decibels @ W.O.T.
Eventually my builder received the baffles and i dropped the bike off for a service and the baffle install.he installed them and THEN told me "he had to cut/weld and modify..."?!?!?! "WTF...!!!" i said...."they're supposed to be bolt-ons".when i quoted him the part #'s he admitted that his employee had the wrong ones and "made them work". i was soooo disgusted that i took the bike away and promised myself i'd find a new tech,BUT the bike lost torque(5 ft/lbs) after the baffle install.i like the new sound,but i'm unsure that what i have will even work for the long haul and perhaps monkey-boy screwed over the power improvements i'd previously gained by corking this engine too much.....whatta mess......
any thoughts gang?

Four screws hold them in...nothing else. No cutting or welding required. Pulled apart and installed the quiet baffles in about 30 minutes. I did not hear the stock baffles so I can't compare them to anything. Just came back from a 500 mile jaunt yesterday and what a pleasure having all that power and low end in the curves and hills. Torque gain over stock was well worth it. Bikes a pleasure to drive.
 
21911 is the correct part number for the quiet baffles installed into the 16767 V&H 4.5 Twin Slash Ovals I have. Bought direct from V&H
 
i've had these mufflers since January...i think i was one of the first to have them... i had the dealer put them on my 2010 SG before i ever bought it home..waited over 6 weeks to get them cuz they weren't really "availabe" when V&H listed them on their web-site. ANyway.... I like the looks...and i've always used V&H exhaust (i paired them with Dresser Duals. Really like the look of the set up, but the sound has always been a little more crisp and thin sounding then what i would like...looking for that low rumble just like everyone else... they are also a bit too loud at cruising speed....can get to be a bit much on long rides
I spent a good bit of $ on the set up and really don't wanna lay out another $300 -$500 for different slip-ons. Do you guys think the quiet bafffles would help me get the sound i'm looking for? How much $ were they?....and finally are they really "available" of am i gonna wait through another back-order?
 
Perception is the key - everyone's tolerance is different. I run these. I like them. I think they sound good at idle and low speeds. I don't hear them at cruising speeds. I liked them with the stock head pipe and now I have them paired with the V&H Power Duals. Little more rumble with them. If it was not already suggested - go to a local bike night, HOG meeting, or HD shop and ask around. People like us like to show what we have.
 
Quit baffles cost me about $80 with shipping. According to V&H tech, it gives you more bottom end and a deeper note at 3 to 5 decibels quieter than original baffles especially with the cats left in. To me they approach the monster ovals in sound. Tech from V&H was right on.
