v&H dressor duals- more power or not

I just bought a 2011 RGU. I have 4K on it already much of it in very hot summer weather. Compared to my 07 with true duals, this bike is HOT!!! Most of the heat if feel is in the pipe on the right side.

Am I correct that the stock header on my bike has a cat on the right hand side?

The main reason I would remove the stock header is to get rid of the heat collecting catalytic converter. I do know that the cats job is to get hot and burn off any residual fuel in the exhaust.

What do you guys think?

I've lost a little bit of torque in low/midrange with the Dresser Duals but considering the significant drop in exhaust temp and the increase in stereophonic sound, I have no regrets whatsoever cause that's what I was after.
I'll take care of the lost torque, and much more than what I've lost, with a set of cams this winter.

There's no way a 2-1-2 system will reduce heat as much as a 2-2 but it all depends what your goals are.

I switched from the power duels to the dresser duels. I did notice a reduction in heat and have not felt any reduction in power. Maybe my bike just sounds like it has the same power. You just can't beat being able to hear each cylinder fire.

I considered doing the same thing but was warned be our local bike shop (not Harley) that there would be a loss of power. I was advised to stay with the 2-1-2 setup. But I did install a set of Jackpot headers along with the power commander 5. The headers eliminates the cat. converter which will not only make your bike run better but will also make your bike run cooler. There was a very noticable gain in throttle response. My bike is much more responsive which for me makes it funner to ride. I'm going to replace the stock cams within the next couple of months which will increase performance even more. Hope this helps.

You are correct. You need to replace the stock headers as there is a cat converter inside. This is what is causing all the heat buildup. Not only does this make the bike uncomfortable to ride but, also affects your bikes performance. Fuel moto usa sells headers that do this. I bought the jackpot headers that they offer but vance and hines also offers headers that will also. I also installed the power commander 5 which with mapping provided by fuel moto will adjust the fuel/air mixture to a richer mixture which will also maker you bike run cooler. You will want to change your stock air filter also. Just from a comfort standpoint a friend of mine bought the seat pad from Harley and said it works great. Helped with the heat and seat discomfort. I bought the Airhawk 2 seatpad. I haven't tried it yet as i just got it but i'll find out tommorrow how well it works. All the reviews i read were very good. I bought mine on ebay for $91. Happy riding

I'm about to put V&H headers on my '10 Limited. I wa going to go with Power Duals because I was afraid of losing some power, but according to this, I can feel comfortable going with the V&H Dresser Duals, gaining more sound, which for me is a good thing, and losing no noticeable power. If this is true, then I'll go with the Dresser Duals! I'm running Rinehart 4" slipons on my bike.
